We managed to finally get across to see Mat at the Slot Car Factory at Taren Point.

The Slot Car Factory has been open since October 2009 and specialise in 1/32 scale slot cars for the home hobby racing enthusiast.

The shop at present has 4 tracks for hire including a 6 lane replica of Oran Park Raceway that measures 26 metres in length as well as a Carrera Digital track

Club racing is on every Friday night and we were lucky enough to join in with the regulars for a great nights racing.

 

The Slot Car Factory also has kids/beginners racing on Sundays once a month.

G'day Race Fans

 

Just a quick reminder that tonight we are holding our Christmas Endurance Race Event. For those who are interested and want to comedown and watch some very close racing you are more then welcome. The event starts at 6:30 pm and will run till about 11:00 pm. There will be a sausage sizzle from about 8:00 pm with ice creams, chips and drinks available also.

 

At present there is 10 confirmed teams entered with a few guest racers from other clubs attending also. Any last minute entires will need to arrive before 5:30 pm and have their cars checked before the start of the race. The class rules are below.

 

 

 

Christmas 2Hr Endurance Race

 

- Classic Sports Cars (1966 to 1975)

 

(Teams of 2)

 

(Top 10 drivers from the championship must team up with drivers from outside the top 10. Teams with both drivers outside the top 10 and visitors are allowed and encouraged to enter)

 

 

 

Hot Lap Challenge (Secret Car, 10 laps each, $5 entry, Winner takes all)

 

 

Lucky Door Prize (Everyone who enters the Enduro goes into the draw to win a Scaleauto 1/24 GT car valued at $145)

 

 

 

 

Class Rules for the night:-

 

 

Classic Sports Cars (1966 to 1975)

 

Open to Classic Sports Cars (Le Mans or Can-Am) such as the Ford GT40 and Porsche 917K that competed around the world between 1966 to 1975. Classic GT Cars such as the Chevrolet Corvette are not eligible.

 

Racing is non-magnet at 10 volts

 

Class breakout time – 7.0 seconds

 

MotorsAll cars are to be fitted with a NSR Shark 20K control motor (standard motors rated at 20,000 rpm or less will be allowed to race if a NSR Shark 20K motor is not able to be fitted to that car).

 

Gears – Crown gear sizes are open. In-line pinion gears are limited to a maximum size of 11 teeth. Side and Anglewinder pinion gears are limited to a maximum size of 13 teeth.

 

Axles and Bushes – Changing of axles and bushes to aftermarket items is allowed (including Ball Bearing Bushes).

 

Wheels – Changing of wheels to aftermarket items is allowed. All aftermarket wheels must sit inside the original body guards when looked at from above. All wheels must have inserts and be in keeping with the wheels of the era.

 

Original factory plastic wheels may not extend past the original body guards no more than 1mm when looked at from above.

 

Tyres – Changing of rear tyres to rubber aftermarket tyres only is allowed. Front tyres are stock stardard with the original tread still showing. All tyres and wheels must sit inside the original body guards when looked at from above.

 

Suspension – All suspension kits are banned.

 

Chassis and Guide – Changing of the guide is allowed as long as the guide mounting point to the chassis is not modified. Excessive drilling or modifying of the chassis to reduce weight or to change axle or motor mounting positions is banned. No weights or bracing is allowed to be fixed to the underside of the chassis. All weights (Lead or Blu-tac) and bracing (non-metallic) must be fixed to the inside of the chassis. Any car with its chassis excessively scraping along the track may be disqualified.

 

Body and Interior – Must be the same as the model was produced. Replacing of the original interior with a lexan item is banned.

 

Weight – Maximum weight - None.

Cool Photos!

 

Overall, I had a great night. Our (Me and Harry) car building skills both let us down before and during qualy.

 

Never recomending Revell ever again after the mystery car challenge! I had a few customers come in on saturday asking on their performance. I quickly guided them towards the scalextric section.

 

Thanks to Mat for running this event so close to christmas and to all the competitors that also raced or attended the evening.

 

I hope we did Tony Cox Proud with 'Team Cox' finishing a respectable 5th placing with what we had, It's a shame to lose a man decicated to slot car racing. R.I.P. Tony.

Attention all kids

 

 

This January during the summer school holidays we will be holding 4 special Kids Racing Mini Championship events on each Sunday over the next 4 weeks.

 

 

Each Sunday (January 8, 15, 22 & 29) from 11:00 am (sharp) to 1:00 pm we will race our 3 kids classes and at the end of the month the 3 most consistent kids will each win a free 1 hour party booking for them and 5 of their friends.

 

 

The Kids Racing classes are as follows:-

 

Scalextric Super Resistant cars - 14 volts - Magnet

 

Ninco GT cars - 10 volts - Non Magnet

 

Open SCX Rally TT - 10 volts - Non Magnet

(Time Trial event on the Rally Track)

 

 

Entry is $10 per child for all 3 classes held on the day.

(Including controller hire)

 

Special Note:- Any kids unable to attend the Sunday racing can still take part in the Open SCX Rally TT (Time Trial) class by coming down and setting their times any time before the Sunday event.Just a remained that we also have rally cars available to use for kids who do not have a car for the class.

Easter Monday Endurance Race Double Header

Kids Ninco GT 1hr Endurance Race

Both races will be made up of teams of 2 drivers with all drivers competing once on each lane. The kids Ninco GT's race will be racing 5 minute heats and the Slot.it GT1's race will be racing 10 minute heats. The enter fees will be $5 each driver for the kids race and $10 each driver for the Slot.it race, no solo teams will be allowed. We hope to start the kids race by 3:00pm and the Slot.it race by 6:00pm. As long as there is a full field of 12 drivers plus for each race, prizes will be given out to the top 3 teams in both races. All car will be inspected before racing starts. So if you are interested in entering either event please reply back to me asap so we can work out teams and prizes.

 

 

 

Rules:-

 

 

 

Kids Ninco GT Cars (for Children under 15)

 

Open to any Modern GT cars that raced from 2000 onwards in international GT car championships. The cars of choice are basically any of the new Ninco Lightning GT cars

 

The following models are eligible as Ninco GT Cars. Any Ninco (Sport, Lightened & Lightning) Super GT, GT1, GT2 & GT3 cars.

 

 

 

Racing is non-magnet at 10 volts

 

Class Breakout time – 7.0 seconds

 

Motors – All cars must be running with an anglewinder motor configuration. There is a choice of 4 control Ninco motors to use. NC-5 Speeder (20,000rpm at 14.8v), NC-6 Crusher (23,500rpm at 14.8v), NC-14 Speeder+ (20,600rpm at 14.8v) & NC-12 Crusher+ (23,500rpm at 14.8v).

 

Gears – Either Ninco or NSR aftermarket gears may be used. The crown gear ratio options are 31 tooth to 33 tooth crown. The pinion gear ratio options are 11 tooth to 13 tooth pinion.

 

Axles and Bushes – Changing of axles and bushes to aftermarket items is allowed (including Ball Bearing Bushes).

 

Wheels – Changing of wheels to aftermarket items is allowed. All aftermarket wheels must sit inside the original body guards when looked at from above. Any original factory plastic wheels may not extend past the original body guards no more than 1mm when looked at from above.

 

Tyres – All cars must run with the following Ninco control rubber tyres. On the front either the standard or Ninco Prorace 80522 tyres and on the rear either the standard 80520 or 80521 tyres or Ninco Prorace 80515 or 80516 tyres. All tyres on aftermarket wheels must sit inside the original body guards when looked at from above. Silicone Tyres are Banned.

 

Suspension – All suspension kits are banned.

 

Chassis and Guide – Changing of the standard Ninco guide to either the Prorace 80111 or 80112 guides is allowed as long as the guide mounting point to the chassis is not modified. Excessive drilling or modifying of the chassis to reduce weight or to change axle or motor mounting positions is banned. No weights or bracing is allowed to be fixed to the underside of the chassis. All weights (Lead or Blu-tac) and bracing (non-metallic) must be fixed to the inside of the chassis. Any car with its chassis excessively scraping along the track may be disqualified.

 

Body and Interior – All Ninco (Sport, Lightened & Lightning) cars may be fitted with lexan interiors.

 

 

 

Slot.it GT1 Lemans Cars (1994 to 1999)

 

Open to FIA Group C Sports Car that raced around the world between 1982 to 1993.

Nissan R390 GT1 Long Tail

 

 

(The Audi R8C is a LM GTP car and not a GT1 car, so will not be eligible)

Class breakout time – Open

 

Motors – Standard Slot.it Orange Bell 21,500 rpm motor only in the Standard In-Line configuration.

 

Gears – Open to any combination of Slot.it aftermarket In-Line Gears and Ratios

 

Axles and Bushes – Open to any Slot.it Parts

 

Wheels – Changing of wheels to Slot.it aftermarket items is allowed. All aftermarket wheels must sit inside the original body guards when looked at from above. Original factory plastic wheels may not extend past the original body guards no more than 1mm when looked at from above.

 

Tyres – Changing of tyres to Slot.it rubber aftermarket tyres only is allowed. All tyres on aftermarket wheels must sit inside the original body guards when looked at from above. Silicone Tyres are banned.

 

Suspension – Magnetic suspension kits are banned and Spring suspension kits are allowed.

 

Chassis and Guide – Changing to any Slot.it guide is allowed as long as the guide mounting point to the chassis is not modified. Excessive drilling or modifying of the chassis to reduce weight or to change axle or motor mounting positions is banned. No weights or bracing is allowed to be fixed to the underside of the chassis. Just a reminder to everyone about the Double NSR Endurance Race this Friday night the 31st of August. Teams will be put together on the night with 2 drivers to be racing a NSR classic car for the first 90 minutes and swapping to a NSR GT car for the second 90 minutes of the enduro with the winners being decided on a combined total. Both cars will run a standard motor with a 13t pinion.

 

-Entry fee for the night is $10 each driver.

 

-Teams will be put together by 7:00 pm with scrutineering following directly afterwards.

 

-Qualifying at 7:15 pm

 

-The first race will start at 7:30 pm.

 

-There will be a 30 minute dinner break at around 9:00 pm. Pizza will be ordered. The cost will be $5 extra.

 

-The second race will start at around 9:30 pm.

 

-Each driver will do 15 minutes in each lane with 3 lanes in the NSR Classic car and the other 3 lanes in the NSR GT car.

 

 

 

For those wishing to enter here are the rules for the cars you can drive.

Any drilling or modifying of the chassis to reduce weight or to change axle or motor mounting positions is banned. No weights or bracing is allowed to be fixed to the underside of the chassis. All weights (Lead or Blu-tac) and bracing (non-metallic) must be fixed to the inside of the chassis. Any car with its chassis excessively scraping along the track may be disqualified.

Body and Interior – Must be the same as the model was produced. Replacing of the original interior with a lexan item is banned.

Weight – Maximum weight - None.

 

 

 

NSR GT

Open to any NSR GT cars.

The following models are eligible for Super GT.

NSR Audi R8

NSR Corvette C6R

NSR Porsche 997 GT3 RSR

* No NSR Moslers

 

 

 

Racing is non-magnet at 10 volts

 

 

Motors – All cars are to be fitted with any one of the standard NSR King 21.4K control motors in a anglewinder setup.

Gears – 13 tooth pinion gear. 31t crown gear.

Axles and Bushes – Changing of axles and bushes to aftermarket items cars is allowed (including Ball Bearing Bushes).

Wheels – Any NSR wheels are allowed. All wheels must sit inside the original body guards when looked at from above.

Tyres – Changing of front and rear tyres to aftermarket rubber tyres only is allowed (No silicone tyres). All tyres must sit inside the original body guards when looked at from above.

Suspension – Any NSR suspension kits are allowed.

Chassis and Guide – Changing of the guide is allowed as long as the guide mounting point to the chassis is not modified. Any aftermarket NSR chassis and motor pods are allowed. Ran into Matt up at Coffs at the WRC, on the weekend, and he said that he has no plans at the moment, but will let us know as soon as that changes
