Scx Proxy Rally 2012

Recommended Posts

Just to let everyone know that a group of us here in Oz are looking at continuing on with the proxy while Tore has a break.

So we are looking for expressions of interest for both competitors and tracks.

We have the standard three here in Australia so another 8 or 9 (old or new) world wide would be great.

Looking at kicking off March /April next year.

We're also only thinking of running one class, with minimal mods, mainly to minimise class confusion, cut down costs and to try and make it closer racing.

More info to follow ...........

Sounds like a plan. Can probably count me in. I was wondering if there were plans to continue.

I will most likely be a starter. I like the sound of the one class, the three classes were a good idea but class 1 didn't have much interest and class 2 was a bit of a Seat 131 athon.

Yep I would be interested to have another run at this as I have a few of these cars now. I think one class is a good idea, gives me a chance to just get one car wrong instead of three.

To give you a heads up, the class we are thinking on is SCX WRC rally cars from 1999 - 2010, no pro cars or motors, and only cars that run the Standard RX-81 motor

There's 8 or 9 different makes to choose from, with about 30+ different models and liveries, so dig them out of the cupboard or start searching ebay.

Fantasy or obscure rally liveries are encouraged.

Gazza why the starting year of 1999 when the WRC started in 1997? Just curious?

Wondered where I would find an RX 81, just found 3 brand new in the junk box!

Looks like I will be able find a runner to enter. So I am in.

It's 3 days since we looked at that Phil, but from memory there were a couple of odd ball releases in 1997/8 so 99 made the field simplier to define/allow.

1997 - 1998 had the Escort WRC and 1997 - 1999 had the Toyota Corolla

Decided to scrap the Escort as it wasn't a RX-81 version and 1999 was the last year for the Corolla so it's in ..... if you can find one

Was only going to go from 2000 - 2010 but i'm sure some one would be on the soapbox singing the virtues of the Corolla and it does run the earlier RX motor

Thanks for the info.

I happen to have two! BUt can the motor be changed to the RX81 or does the car have to come with the RX81.

Just thought I should ask before some one else does.

I have NFI what motor was in mine as they were both brought with out motors.

I think the Corolla ran the earlier 4wd version, same as the Celica

The wheel base is the same so the RX-81 should fit straight in

Even if you have to modify the shaft a bit, it still keeps the motors uniform

does the mcrae subie pictured below have an rx-81 motor?

If so, and if it passes as a wrc car, I'll probably run that
