I needed a chassis for a Slot.it Audi



but it's hard to fit a sidewinder under the rear of that car so I made these



1.6mm brass main plate, 1.5mm Carbon Fibre composite plate, ScaleAuto wheels and tyres.

Set up for Pointer motor and Slot.it offset gears but will take most any inline gears









So why did I make two? Because I want to see how they travel with a lexan body.



Toyota 88C by Andrew Bartholomew. I'm thinking Minolta colours.

Approximate all up weights - Audi - 112 grams, lexan Toyota - 100 grams

So on to some painting.

I must have been confused when we spoke, Is the one with the Carbon Flexing rear end a different chassis?, Or did I just misunderstand what you were explaining?

Is it 3/32 front and rear, or is that a 3mm front axle?

Maybe friday night at Andrews. I have to paint them, and painting sits right between 'being boiled in oil' and 'talking to my mother-in-law' on my list of favourite things.

Hi Stoo,

Thanks for the kind words.

Axles are 3/32

Wheelbase is adjustable from 82mm to 88mm

Guide centre to front axle adjustable from 5mm to 12mm

These are 58mm wide so they're only going to fit the wider cars. If they work OK I'll do something narrower for my MB Slot Zonda F.

Garry you know me when it comes to painting. I didn't realize you liked it so much though once again mate they do look fantastic. Hopefully we can develop a class for them some where once you have them sorted.

Any plans to produce such an inline design in 1/24 as there are many LMP cars/bodies waiting for a chassis like that ?

Werner,

Axle height on 1/24th scale will play havok with the gear mesh unless the motor is mounted high.

With 27mm tyres and the motor on top of the chassis the offset from motor shaft to axle centre is 3.3mm.

24mm tyres will leave a 1.8mm offset. Hmmmm might work.

Yes, you are right Garry. The wheel size has always been the problem with inline.
The current solution is this :





I am sure this could be impoved......
