Luke S 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2011 Hi, Start with a quick thank you to Jim Berry for lending me some cars for last nights racing! Had a fantastic evening, very welcoming bunch of racers, much appreciated. @ Jason, thanks for being so patient in the teams run at the end & for the tips. Some more time on the track at Armchair will do wonders for the lap times. Thanks to all, looking forward to the next one. Pic from last night! Brooksy 3 Report post Posted October 27, 2011 Is Melbourne Cup going to affect numbers? I need to make a decision as to attend a Cup Lunch or race (tough I know).... I don't think the numbers will affect racing too much. I think between 8 to 12 people will show up. Any more will be a bonus! Quote Brooksy

Ember 71 Report post Posted October 30, 2011 Great footage and editing. Thoroughly enjoyable. Almost enough to make me head back out to the toy room, though it doesn't cut the mustard in comparison. Luke S 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2011 (edited) Firstly some thanks. To Jason for the hours he spent getting my car race ready, for the two Johns for taking my car around the track and giving me some corner tips on how to subtract a few more tenths. Thanks to all of you much appreciated, looking forward to tuesday. To the video. Thanks for the feedback, I took the gopros to Armchair out of curiosity to see if it would come up well on film. Some of the angles have plenty of potential and with 8 cars on the track at a race meet the footage would look epic once cut down to a 3-4 minute clip. The technical problems I see. 1. That video was shot with mostly the inside and outside lane free, although the camera is very small, with 8 lanes full on race night a car drifting on the inside or outside lane could easily clip the camera (more concerned about ruining somebodies race than the camera), this can be altered by positioning cameras well before the apex of the corner out of harms way. 2. The 30 second interval between lane changes, unplug and move controller get car, put car in new lane, new sticker on car and repositioning the cameras to shoot another angle in 30 seconds is unlikely, short of calling CUT, thats a take, lets break for lunch while we reset, its not humanly possible or practical. 2a. Unless somebody is prepared to move my car and controller while I sort out the cameras in 30 seconds (which I can do) The plus side. 1. 8 cars on the track running at race pace would make for some epic footage (picture the video above with 8 cars in most shots within 2 seconds of each other. The start would look amazing, so would 8 cars heading into corner 1, under the bridge and the S bend near the end of the track. 2. It would look great and people could see tuesday nights action as it happened (plus accidents) even an outtake section. 3. Track marshals could be useful (you only have to point it at the track) that your looking at anyway that could be an option, if your not familiar with gopros they fit in the palm of your hand are very light and have no screen so you point it in the general direction you are shooting and it captures it, if there are plenty of people then its not a problem at all, somebody could walk around the track shooting (which I am prepared to do but I wanna race also ). Either way, we will get something from the night, also have a helmet mount, so if I turn up and race in a helmet please don't look at me funny its positioned for where you look it records. So following your own car around the track it should be pretty accurate and possibly make some people want to throw up from getting dizzy This would work quite well for the track marshals putting the helmet on for 3 minutes each. Looking forward to Tuesday, the car is fast, I just need to catch up, managed a 6.665 with a rather well tuned slot it I did a few laps with, was stoked with that. Progress is progress! Any ideas for filming are welcome. Thanks Luke Edited October 30, 2011 by Luke S

Luke S 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2011 (edited) Vimeo is a safe website and quite well known by people for eg, enthusiasts of making movies, vimeo differs from youtube as in not having the volume of traffic and seems to slide under the big music companies radar when it comes to using music for a video. Hence why I did not post it up on my youtube account, it would be red flagged within 10 minutes of posting it. Im not a website techy but should be possible, if you can display and play videos in a post instead of being directed to an external website.
