Brooksy 3 Report post Posted August 24, 2011 Jason, I'm finally going to make an appearance soon at the Chair Tuesday nights. What cars are most running in the Slot.It series? What can be done to the scalextric classics? Can I glue and true the tyres? Add weight? mark Hi Mark, Thats great news to hear that your coming to race in the near future. I find we are down on numbers at the moment. with Regards to the Slot It Class, most of the drivers are either racing the Porsche 956's, Mercedes Sauber C9's or Mazda 787B's. Most Cars are running an inline configuration with a red 29,000 rpm (red) motor. The Choice for tyres are the F15 Supersoft Tyres. Gluing the tyres helps alot. My gear ratio is around the 2.8/1 figure. The fastest cars are running in the 6.1 - 6.4 second area With Regards to the scalextric Classic class, These cars are Stock Standard out of the box racing. "Original Tyres may be trued and Glued, However the Original Tread must be still Visible." With Regarding with weight, there is no rule about adding weight but we find that adding weight to cars doesn't help at all. I hope that has answered your questions. If anyone in general is Interested about certin rules or classes, etc... , I'm sure that one of us Armchair Locals including myself can help you out. Thanks, Jason Brooks - Sclaextric V8 Quote Brooksy
miveson 18 Report post Posted August 24, 2011 Thanks Jason, Out of curiosity how long before the classes are changed? I have a spare GT40 sitting around at home that is stock. I might start on the GT40 night as it'll be a good lesson for me (in losing) and it means I can have 2 races with the GT40 and the stock DP's. The slot.it's on the other hand I'll have to order some parts in. I don't have a Plafit car so I'm debating about whether it would be worth coming along for a single class of racing? The slot.it's on the other hand I'll have to order some parts in. I don't have a Plafit car so I'm debating about whether it would be worth coming along for a single class of racing? Mark Hi Mark, Usually we Change Classes at the end of Each year. So we at least have another 4 to 5 months before deciding for next year. We are planning to change some of the classes depending on what everyone perfers to drive and also considering how much each car costs and all the parts added. The rumours at the moment are either a NSR Mosler Class, Pinoneer Mussle Car Class, and either an SCX Nascar or GT or Maybe even Scalextric Fiat 500's as a host class. We are still a long way before deciding. Thats great that you have a few cars to come along with and race. However we do carry some spare cars if anyone doesn't have that particular car for that class. I find Plafit cars are quite expensive to set up and quite hard to set up correctly. In the end someone else built a car for me. I also find that when new people come along to race that they take a long time to adapt to the track and conditions. So it maybe a while to get your name off the bottom of the list. Practice makes perfect at Armchair. Good Luck! miveson 18 Report post Posted September 20, 2011 Thanks Jason for posting up those amazing results. Big thanks to everyone I met last night, I had a great time racing your cars.... Still can't quite believe that I registered 0 laps for my first ever heat after my GT40 refused to budge off the start line. The life expectancy of many cars was probably reduced in my hands and I was pleased that I was not responsible for Geoff's Chap wing breakage. I'd thoroughly recommend the race night to anyone who has not been before, a lovely bunch of racers. I'll be back for more pain and suffering in a couple of weeks, time to find myself a new GT40 (one that actually goes) Mark Quote Slot Car Photos V8 Tipping Competition

miveson 18 Report post Posted October 4, 2011 Another great night of racing Jason - the Armchair curse hit me once again with your loan car losing an air intake and causing my car to spectacularly launch itself at the timing tower in the middle of the long straight. Oh well......... It was great to put some faces to some Auslot member names as well. Mark Quote Slot Car Photos V8 Tipping Competition
