These repaints look excellent, I am about to embark on the same project & was wondering what type of paint you used. ..............Lacquer or enamel & the clear finish was it Floor polish?

Hi Meggs, i have used tamiya paints in an airbrush for the colour but one of our guys uses automotive colors brought from an automotive paint supplier. All the ones posted on this forum are done by 2 guys from my race group and myself all the clear coats on this forum have been done with Debeers Automotive clear but is very tricky to spray without frying up the decals. Using the Automotive clear gives them a much harder finish. I have experimented with a few clears and the only one that gives me a similar finish so far is the Zero Paints Hobby Clear, but it also has a tendency to fry decals if not sprayed correctly

Another way around not frying up the decals is to use a tamiya clear without thinners tipped straight in the airbrush just to seal the decals with a couple of coats before using an Automotive clear mixed with thinners to get the nice shine, but let the Tamiya clear dry for 24-48 Hours so when you spray the Automotive clear with the thinners it does not penetrate the Tamiya Coat. I have experimented with a few things in the last 12 months with the leftover decals trying to get my bodies to the same standard a the other 2 fellows that paint in our racegroup
