It's not a car ad, but it's one that has stuck in my head since childhood.

I seem to recall talk of the driver in the original ad that finished with the car driving off into the distance on an open road (which I haven't found yet) having a missing index finger. It was supposedly only discovered when the day's footage was viewed back and instead of giving the Charger sign out of the window he was giving everyone the bird. It was reshot with him wearing driving gloves.

The Conway boys have kept doing it in their diverse ways. Jim Conway - Harmonica, is still doing it though his life has been severely limited by MS. I spoke to him for a while over 5 years ago at a private party out on a mates farm 4 hours from Sydney, where Jim was probably playing with The Backsliders, though I can't be sure now (memory).
Having been a professional blues/fusion harp player myself in another life, I so enjoyed speaking with Jim for a while. I felt honoured, humbled & very impressed with his warm hearted positive attitude to life.
He spoke to me in a genuinely open hearted manner, free of the dreaded musician's ego. Generously giving info' on the special amp' & microphone that he was using (I wouldn't have asked), from his wheelchair, his communication was imbued with so many of the qualities that come with being an honest, compassionate human being. His being a brilliant musician really had nothing to do with the matter. I (obviously) walked away very impressed, gratified & full of respect for the man.
I just checked the wiki & he's still doing it, which made me happy, as the MS, hasn't stopped him at this point.
Mic Conway, the crazy brother who fronted Matchbox, is also still doing it. I've seen him (again some years ago now) performing with The Junk Band, at the Canberra folk festival, & he was as usual a captivating entertaining entity. The next night he asked the audience to give him a topic for jokes, someone (setup or not?) yelled out masturbation! He then went on to tell jokes on the subject for well & truly far beyond half an hour...
Not that I hold any prejudice against masturbation, but I must say that spending time with Mic's brother Tim, was a far more genuine experience, one which hopefully I'll not forget in this life.

I used to be surprised that I was still surprised by my own stupidity, finding it strangely refreshing.
Well I don't now.
I'm over it!

Thanks.
Pretty weird me watching TV commercials on this forum, we have never had a TV in this house. A house which is over 20 years old now. lol
