April 9Th - Lmp Enduro - Mobile Raceways

Recommended Posts

In Melbourne for the LMP enduro at Dandenong. Did very poorly as usual. Bought all the best bits for the car (Slot it Lancia) and had it professionally setup and it was slower than the stock SCX I had. I don't blame the guy who set it up, the handling was superb. The motor was supposed to be a 29,000 and I think it's a dud. :D. Plus my back and legs were giving me grief, last time I fall down a flight of stairs. Had a great time, caught up with all the usual suspects. You other Sydney guys should make an effort to get down to Dandenong some time.

Sorry to all the guys that I did not hold up my end of the marshalling duties. As mentioned before my body just could not take the standing for so long. Will make it up to you at Hornsby.

Best Regards

Brian

ps. Sorry Tony, the rest of the St Andrews guys and Sophie.

Great night of racing, thanks Grdf for organizing the night.

Congrats to Rob for the win.

Was good to catch up with you all, been a while.

Also meet Stubbo yesterday, he came down for a look and to meet up with a few forum members, it was good to put a face to name after the many times he has helped me out with decals.

Next time no low Profile NSR tyres for me!!

Greg mentioned a pro Ninco class last night, anyone interested?

Anyone have a screen shot of the 2nd grps results?

Heres grp 1 results.

A good evening of racing, thanks to everyone who rolled up.

Thanks Gref for organising this.

Congratulations to the podium finishers: 1. Rob, 2.Gref, 3.Davnic

A well-deserved win to Rob- great consistent driving & your Avantslot Pescarolo seemed smooth and strong for the whole race.

I wish I'd put more effort into prepping my second car (Fly Porsche GT1 98) that ended up being the weapon of choice, a loose crown and tyres binding on the chassis did not help.

@Shane a (Jazzbell) Sorry you couldn't make it, I was looking forward to meeting you. Another time! Thanks for your kind offer to bring NSR parts as well.

BTW you were quite right- there were no wheelstands but the 38k powered Slot.it R390 was too much motor, even with taller gearing (10/26)- it had to be 'feathered' the whole time. I'm not sure that much power is usable in any plastic-chassis'd slot car!

Here's a shot with a few more of the grid present:

Thanks to all the guys turning up to make it a good night of racing! Also thanks to Dave Scriven for supplying the trophies!

It turned out to be a race of attrition with a lot of the real fast guys having technical problems. Shane Scriven came out of the blocks roaring away in the first group only to have car trouble and eventually retire. Same happened to Greg, real fast until car chewed tyres to bits. Then in group 2 Dave was probably twice as fast as my car in a straight line, but he too encountered car problems which saw him lose a lot of laps in the pits. Matt had 3 cars fail and Ian 2, dropping off like flys!

Eventually Rob came through with the win, good consistant car and good consistant driving.

Placings

1. Rob - 702 laps

2. Shane F - 691

3. David Scriven - 680

4. Chris - 679

5. Jarrod - 649

6. Dick - 647

7. Shane L - 644

8. Jeff - 639

9. Greg - 638

10. Ian - 630

11. Paul - 600

12. Bry - 598

13. Matt - 485

14. Brian - 390

15. Shane S - 309

Congrats to the place getters, good solid drives from them.

Well done to Gref for organising a real friendly night!! It had the feel of a V32 meet with the banter all night!

Those NSR tyres on Shane Scriven's (?) car were as bad as I've seen tyres get!

My MRRC Toyota GT1 just didn't have the legs to run with the front runners even with the 29,900rpm motor... it was well down on the pace it ran in the 6hr Enduro on the Kingleman until the last bracket when it seemed to go like its old self!!! Gained 10 laps in that last bracket... too little too late.

Had a great night and it was great to meet Stubbo too, as Dave said, always good to put a face to the name. Alan, please have a go at that little project we talked about!!! ;)

Good to see the old faces again, top night.

Cheers,

Dick

Ok I finally took at what I threw into my car after tha mad panic of a motor failure, seems I was running 11/27 gear set along with the hurricane 27000 rpm motor. Not the quickest around the track but did the job. I remember picking it up and remarking how cool the motor felt after running for 2 hours more or less flat out.

"I remember picking it up and remarking how cool the motor felt after running for 2 hours more or less flat out."

That's what made me worry about the slot-it 29,000 in my Lancia. After the first bracket you could not touch the motor without burning yourself. Honestly my stock SCX 18,000 was quicker.

Guys i dont really care what class of car you choose to race. But lets try and make it an anual event. :D

Some sort of Victorian title would be good as well.

Just dont understand how we could have had 2 great 6 hour enduro in 09 and 08,then nothing.

Sorry i missed the night as it would have been good to catch up.

What do you mean 'Ninco Pro'?

Are you talking about the new pro race cars?

17320384.jpg

I think these are what Greg was refering to, the Ninco Lightining cars, there is heaps available and by time the next event happens there should be more..

Do we only allow Ninco parts or Change for other brands parts ie Slot.it, NSR like the LMP/GT1 class we just ran?

Me personally leave it a one brand class..

Or persist with the LMP/GT1 class as we have the cars and some of us can try and better our results..

for eg me... different tyre and glue choice...

I like the format we just run for the fact it had so many variables in it.

Why replace a series just for the sake of it?

I say leave the LMP as it is (was a top night... lots of variables and lots of different outcomes) and run the Ninco Pro cars that Dave suggested as well!!!

I suggest all Ninco bits (gear ratios???) but allow any tyre (Non silicone)
