Class Of 2010-11

Recommended Posts

I think it will be the Healey again this year. Reballasted, NC2 swapped for an NC1 and now sporting a lightweight crew. Otherwise same wheels, tyres and gearing as last time. I have been playing around with a Ninco Porsche 356 as an alternative but am keen to see if I can get the Healey to perform better this time around.

Well... For what it's worth the little blue buzz box is on its way.

Motor - RX41B (standard)

Wheels - BWA BW32002-093

Tyres - MJK

Bearings - SCX Pro Brass Orbital (rear) - SCX Brass Standard (front)

Gears - Slot.it

Ratio - 10:28 (seemed like a good idea at the time)

Guide - SCX standard

Braid - SCX Pro

Total weight - 83g (ish)

It's a bit grubby from way too many laps around the track. And the third heaviest car in my collection after the Carrera R8 (au naturale) and Bullitt Mustang. HL always complains my cars are too twitchy, hopefully, this one isn't.

That is one nice car Embs.....

Time to add mine to the mix - just need to glue and true the tyres

(Had a shocker of a week doing my first gluing, tyres were all lumpy so off they came, then trying to sand down the wheel, I sanded too much, all was not lost as new wheels ordered and new tyres added)... Enough of the high drama I hear you say.... it'll be in the post early next week if I don't stuff up anything else on it between now and then. I've spent a fortune...

Motor | RX42B

Wheels| Slot.It SIPA17-PL

Tyres | NSR 5226 (Fronts) MJK 4219 (Rear)

Ratio | 9:28 Slot.It

Guide | SCX standard (ran out of time)

Weight|89.5g

I'll set the expectation right now, that if I finish in any place above <= 30th I'll be more than happy.

Rick ol' chap, mid field would be wonderful. But I'm being realistic when I say I don't think it likely. Unless of course a few people have strapped a brick to the roof of their car and fitted square wheels.

Has finally tracked down the wheels I wanted for my car, will be here Monday.

Everything else ready to go.

Car may not see a track before departure which is disappointing but it took three weeks to find these wheels.

All together now. Just need to remember to ask the misses if she has any clear nail polish for the front tyres and then it will be on the way on Monday. I had my first ever attempt at turning rims into inserts tonight, lets just say I got there in the end ;)

If nothing else this proxy idea forces the learning of new skills. I got three done relatively easily. The last one seemed destined to go wrong and eventually broke. No wonder I have such a large range of glues sitting on the workbench.

Beem looks good Ben.

The Phoeno Porsche 911 (ex SCX Lois) has been retuned with ninco wheels, proslot blue motor, mjk's and some mods to the front axle.

I hope it goes alright, I havn't driven it being trackless but it looks ok.

what is the whole idea of a Proxy? What are you acheiving that the orig. makers havn't? Is it concourse, motor performance or handling? I find hard to grasp concept when some one else is driving your car, and could have that one litle moment that could ruin rest of tour for your veichle.

Basically its to try and build a car thats robust handles great with in a set of rules on a number of different tracks you have never raced on. Most of all to have fun
