G'day Everyone

I am here to let you all know a little bit more about Friday Night Racing at the Slot Car Factory at Taren Point in Sydney's Sutherland Shire. We race every Friday night from 7:30pm on a 26 metre long Ninco 6 lane replica of Sydney's historical Oran Park Raceway.

We run 8 main classes on a regular basis.

The following 4 classes are raced every second week:-

Classic Sports Cars - (Le Mans and Can-am Cars that raced between 1966 and 1975. NSR shark 20k control motor) Non-magnet at 10 volts.

Classic Touring Cars - (Aust. Touring Car Championship between 1960 to 1979 and Trans-Am series cars that raced between 1966 and 1972. Cars can only run motors of a maximum of 18,000 rpm) Non-magnet at 10 volts.

Ninco Modern GT Cars - (Any Super GT, GT1, GT2 & GT3 Cars that raced from 2000 onwards. All cars are fitted with a Ninco NC-5 motor) Non-magnet at 10 volts.

SCX Stock Out Of The Box - (Standard SCX cars out of the box. All cars are allowed to upgrade to a RX-42B. F1 & LMP cars are banned and Rally cars may soon follow) Magnet at 13.8 volts

The following 4 classes are ran once a month:-

Open Rally Cars - (Open to any homologated Rally Cars. All cars must have a co-driver fitted as orginal from the factory) Non-magnet at 10 volts.

LMP1 and LMP2 Le Mans Prototype Cars - ( Open to standard or modified cars. Wheels must be inside the guards) Non-Magnet at 10 volts.

From time to time run other classes for fun such as a Open GT class or FIA Group 5 cars so keep a eye on the website for more details. At the moment I am in the middle of a major update of the website so please be patience and all the new should be up by next week. Also if you have any ideas please feel free to add to this post. We are a small group at the moment who enjoy a good race and are happy to help others out so if you are bored on a Friday night then come by and check things out.

G'day All

Here are the results from last Friday nights races (30-7-2010).

Due to the numbers and the late start we just ran 3 minute heats in the 4 centre lanes.

Classic Touring Cars

1st - 70 - Harry - Pioneer Ford Mustang Fastback

2nd - 69 - Kell - Carrera Ford Capri

3rd - 65 - Mat - Fly Alfa Romeo GTA

4th - 56 - Neil - Scalextric Holden L34 Torana

5th - 49 - Saso - Fly Porsche 911s

A near perfect race from Harry. The Mustang was not the fastest car in a straight line on the night but was the easiest car to control in the twisty bits and put its power down well. This meant that Harry kept the car on the track for the whole race to pick up the win. With the 18,000 rpm std. spec motors the FF motor in the Torana has the legs on the straight but needs work to keep it sitting on the track in the bends. Given that it was pulled out of the box 30mins before the race there is a lot of room for it to move up towards the front of the field in the future.

Open GT Cars

1st - Harry - 81 - NSR Mosler (King 25)

2nd - Kell - 75 - Ninco Ferrari F360 (NC-10)

3rd - Mat - 73 - NSR Mosler (King 21)

4th - Neil - 67 - Ninco Ferrari F360 (NC-5)

5th - Saso - 61 - Ninco Ferrari F360 (NC-5)

As in the first race Harry kept the car on the track and with the fastest motor walked away with a big win. Neil and Saso raced with Ninco Modern GT spec cars and had a few good scraps during the heats.

SCX Stock out of the box.

1st - 100 - Harry - Renault Alpine A110

2nd - 91 - Mat - Ferrari F550 Maranello

3rd - 74 - Neil - Morgan Aero

4th - 67 - Kell - Ford Serria

5th - 62 - Saso - Volvo S60

With his third win for the night Harry sealed the fate for at least the small classic rally cars in this class. Due to the small size of the Alpine and the same size motor and magnet as the rest of the field it is able to take most corners flat. So in the future we will set a minimum weight for the class and/or add Rally cars to F1 and LMP cars on the banned list.

Also a big thanks to Graeme for helping out with the marshalling.

Coming up next Friday the 6th of August we are racing the following classes:-

Classic Sports Cars - Non-Magnet at 10 volts

Classic Touring Cars - Non-Magnet at 10 volts

Open Rally Class - Non-Magnet at 10 volts

Regards

G'day All

Sorry for the late update but here are the results from last Friday Nights races (6-8-2010)

A good turn out on the night ensured we had full grids and lots of marshalls. The Classic Touring Car race was 3 min heats in each lane but because of the time taken we had to shorten the heat times for the following two class to 2min. Then a problem in the Classic Sports Car race with the timing system meant that not everyone had a run in all the lanes, so to try and keep the results fair I will only list average times and fastest lanes for the Classic Sports Car class.

Race 1 Classic Touring Cars

1st - 103 laps - Kell - Carrera Ford Capri RS (Fastest Lap 9.866)

2nd - 100 laps - Harry - Pioneer Ford Mustang (9.723)

3rd - 98 laps - Warrick - Scalextric Ford Escort Mk.I (10.054)

4th - 97 laps - Mat - Fly Alfa Romeo GTA (10.072)

5th - 94 laps - Graeme - Scalextric Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (10.130)

6th - 87 laps - Brad - SCX Ford Escort MkII (11.546)

7th - 87 laps - Neil - Scalextric Holden L34 Torana (10.287)

8th - 86 laps - Travis - AutoArt Lancia Fuliva (9.827)

9th - 76 laps - Saso - Revell Ford Cortina MkI/Fly Porsche 911s (11.381)

A larger field this week with some new cars attending their first race made for some very exciting racing. Kell's Capri (the lead sinker) was at the front in most heats and stayed on track the most to record the win. In the future I see a few of the newer cars going under 10 sec a lap before long and then pushing the front runners.

Race 2 & 3 Updates later tonight.

Regards

Race 2 - Classic Sports Cars

Due to timing problems places have been awarded using average lap times.

1st - 8.934 avg. - Kell - Slot.it Chaparral (best lap time 8.420)

2nd - 9.436 - Mat - NSR Ford P68 (8.360)

3rd - 9.668 - Graeme - NSR Ford P68 (8.810)

4th - 10.106 - Warrick - NSR Porsche 917K (8.822)

5th - 10.175 - Harry - NSR Porsche 917K (8.623)

6th - 10.537 - Brad - NSR Ford GT40 Mk.IV (9.155)

7th - 10.618 - Travis - NSR Porsche 917K (runner)

8th - 12.242 - Andrew - Carrera McLaren M20 (10.834)

9th - 12.523 - Neil - NSR Ford GT40 Mk.IV (9.078)

10th - 13.315 - Saso - Scalextric Ferrari P4 (11.038)

As you can see this field is dominated by NSR Classic cars running NSR Shark 20k rpm motors. Even though the Chaparral has the straight line advantage of a 21.5k rpm motor. It is the handling of the Chaparral that puts it in front.

Race 3 - Open Rally (2wd & 4wd)

1st - 71 laps - Kell - Ninco Celica, Spirit Renualt 5, SCX Ford Serria (best lap time 9.177)

2nd - 66 laps - Ninco - Ninco Subaru Impreza (9.757)

3rd - 66 laps - Harry - Team Slot Lanica Stratos (9.770)

4th - 65 laps - Graeme - Ninco Citroen C4 (9.611)

5th - 63 laps - Neil - SCX Subauru Impreza (9.963)

6th - 57 laps - Saso - SCX Ford Serria (10.708)

7th - 56 laps - Brad - SCX Ford Escort Mk.II (runner)

8th - 53 laps - AutoArt - Lanica Fulvia (9.452)

I think I got all of Kell's cars. The Lanica Fulvia was quick but didn't corner well when a wheel would fall off.

Coming up next Friday the 13th of August we are racing the following classes:-

Ninco - Modern GT Cars - Non Magnet at 10 volts

SCX - Stock out of the Box - Magnet at 14 volts

Le Mans Prototypes - LMP1 & LMP2 Cars

Thanks for stopping by Geoff.

I'm glad you liked the track. Going by the times you did in testing you should be on the pace pretty quick. All you have to do now is learn all the lanes B) .

P.S. results from last weekend will be up later today. Due to the larger numbers racing will now begin 30 minutes earlier at 7:00pm next Friday.

G'day All

Here are the results from last weeks races.

Race 1 - Ninco - Modern GT

1st - 97 laps - Kell - Ferrari F360 (best laps time 8.996)

2nd - 91 laps - Neil - Ferrari F360 (9.007)

3rd - 90 laps - Graham - Lamborghini Murcielago (8.939)

4th - 90 laps - Warrick - Ascari (9.197)

5th - 89 laps - Harry - Mercedes CLK (9.696)

6th - 88 laps - Jeff - Toyota Supra (9.531)

7th - 88 laps - Travis - Porsche GT1 (9.241)

8th - 88 laps - Glen - Lamborghini Murcielago (9.145)

9th - 85 laps - Brandon - Mosler (9.302)

10th - 79 laps - Saso - Ferrari F360 (10.003)

A good win for Kell and a close battle for the minor place with Neil just keeping his nose in front. Most of the guys are yet to do much work to these cars so the mid field could be pushing even hard for places next time around.

Race 2 - Le Mans Prototypes

1st - 104 laps - Kell - Avant Audi R10 (Best lap time 8.144)

2nd - 96 laps - Harry - Ninco Acura (8.546)

3rd - 94 laps - Warrick - Avant Peugeot 908 (8.383)

4th - 89 laps - Graham - Spirit Courage (8.865)

5th - 87 laps -Brandon - Sloting Plus Reynard (9.083)

6th - 86 laps - Travis - SCX Audi R8/Ninco Acura (8.508)

7th - 85 laps - Neil - SCX Audi R8 (9.293)

8th - 83 laps - Saso - Avant Audi R10 (9.046)

9th - 76 laps - Jeff - SCX Audi R8 (10.474)

10th - 76 laps - Glen - Scalaxtric Audi R10 (9.905)

Some real rocket in this class with most of the new drivers unable to keep the cars on the road.

Race 3 - SCX - Stock out of the Box

1st - 104 laps - Chelsea - Audi R10 (Best lap time 7.172)

2nd - 103 laps - Kell - Ford Serria (7.212)

3rd - 100 laps - Graham - Nascar (7.236)

4th - 97 laps - Mark - Morgan Aero 8 (7.970)

5th - 85 laps - Harry - Volvo (7.548)

6th - 84 laps - Dennis - Nascar (7.592)

7th - 83 laps - Glen - Aston Martin DBR9 (8.203)

This race was held on Monday night instead of Friday due to the first two races races going over time. With a win first time up for Chelsea the guys will be worried the next time she shows up. I will admit she had a car advantage over the rest of the field but the car still had the same motor and gearing as the rest and she still had to control it given that the track voltage was 14v so well done and if we wanted to start inspecting some of the other cars in the field I think that you would find that some of the others are no longer stock (and yes I do mean the Serria).

Coming up next Friday the 20th of August we are racing the following classes:-

Classic Sports Cars - Non-Magnet at 10 volts

Classic Touring Cars - Non-Magnet at 10 volts

Scalextric V8 Supercars - Non-Magnet at 10 volts (only if there is time, otherwise we will run the race on Monday night)

Just a reminder to racers that we will be starting racing at 7:00pm from now on.

G'day All

It's been a busy week with lots to do so today is the first chance I have had to post last Friday's results. Also btw a special thanks to the guys and girls from the Scalextric Club for coming down on Saturday night to try out the track.

Here are the results from last Friday nights races (20-8-2010).

Race 1 - Classic Touring Cars (2:30 min Heats)

1st - 86 laps - Kell - Carrera Ford Capri (Best Lap Time 9.757)

2nd - 83 laps - Harry - Pioneer Ford Mustang Fastback (9.965)

3rd - 82 laps - Graham - Scalextric Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (9.891)

4th - 80 laps - Chelsea - Scalextric Ford Escort Mk.I (10.330)

5th - 78 laps - Mat - Fly Alfa Romeo GTA (9.874)

6th - 76 laps - Glen - Scalextric Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (10.426)

7th - 68 laps - Brandon - Carrera Ford Capri (10.678)

8th - 66 laps - Mark - Scalextric Holden Torana (11.347)

9th - 65 laps - Travis - Fly Porsche 911s (10.425)

10th - 61 laps - Neil - Scalextric Holden Torana (10.134)

A good mix of different cars again. A few new faces in the top half of the field who with with some car development could be challenging for a win soon. Well done to Chelsea for keeping the Escort on the track and for showing me that I should stop loaning people cars that can beat what I am driving...hahaha. :)

Race 2 Classic Sports Cars (2:30 min Heats)

1st - 104 laps - Kell - 21.5k motor Slot it. Chaparral (Best Lap Time 8.201)

2nd - 94 laps - Harry - 20k motor NSR Porsche 917K (8.465)

3rd - 94 laps - Chelsea - 20k motor NSR Ford P68 (8.702)

4th - 93 laps - Graham - 20k motor NSR Porsche 917K (8.672)

5th - 93 laps - Mark - 20k motor NSR Ford GT40 Mk.IV (9.017)

6th - 93 laps - Warrick - 20k motor NSR Porsche 917K (8.768)

7th - 91 laps - Glen - 20k motor NSR Ford P68 (8.664)

8th - 89 laps - Neil - 20k motor NSR Ford GT40 Mk.IV (8.924)

9th - 87 laps - Brandon - 20k motor NSR Ford P68 (8.750)

10th - 81 laps - Travis - 20k motor NSR Porsche 917K (8.897)

Once again Kell was in a class of his own (the 21,500 rpm class) and left the field for dead. As for the rest it was too close to call with the battle lasting all the way to the end. This was the first Classic Sports Car race for a few of the new drivers and they all did well to finish this close to the top of the field.

Race 3 V8 Supercars (2:30min Heats)

1st - 84 laps - Kell - (Best Lap Time 9.559)

2nd - 83 laps - Travis - (10.018)

3rd - 79 laps - Warrick (9.806)

4th - 75 laps - Chelsea (10.077)

5th - 75 laps - Neil - (9.899)

6th - 70 laps - Graham (10.699)

7th - 68 laps - Harry - (10.011)

8th - 65 laps - Glen - (10.504)

As usual the taxi class proved to be entertaining with lots of crashes.

Coming up next Friday the 27th of August we are racing the following classes:-

Ninco - Modern GT Cars - Non Magnet at 10 volts

SCX - Stock out of the Box - Magnet at 14 volts

Nascars - Non magnet at 10 volts

12th - 77 laps - Chelsea - Aston art (8.620)

Congratulation to Steve CT for a win on his first club racing night and we look forward to having you back. BTW... This is a fun class with lots of crashes and a cars that have design advantages over the field like the Morgan and Ferrari FXX.

  • 2 weeks later...

G'day All

Been catching up on some rest after a busy few weeks so sorry for the late update.

Here are the results from last Friday nights races (3-9-2010)

Race 1 Classic Touring Cars (2:30 min heats)

1st - 89 laps - Harry - Pioneer Ford Mustang Fastback (best lap time 9.272)

2nd - 88 laps - Kell - Scalextric Ford Mustang Fastback (9.379)

3rd - 86 laps - Glen - Scalextric Chevrolet Camaro (9.172)

4th - 85 laps - Steve CT - Scalextric Chevrolet Camaro (9.720)

5th - 85 laps - Graham - Scalextric Chevrolet Camaro (9.716)

6th - 84 laps - Warrick - Spirit BMW 2002/Pioneer Ford Mustang Fastback (10.006)

7th - 83 laps - Neil - Pioneer Ford Mustang Notchback

8th - 82 laps - Brandon - Carrera Ford Capri RS (10.099)

9th - 82 laps - Travis - Carrera Ford Capri RS (10.212)

10th - 76 laps - Andrew - SCX Fiat Abarth 1000 (11.209)

11th - 72 laps - Saso - Carrera Ford Capri RS (10.970)

This is really starting to become a ultra competitive class with new cars showing up every race to challenge the front runners. With the top 3 guys putting in some very quick laps for this class it was finally Harry who came out on top with the highly modified Pioneer Mustang (still fitted with a 18,000 rpm motor of course). Hopefully next race I will have time to race my new Escort Mk.II.

Race 2 Classic Sports Cars (2:30 min heats)

1st - 107 laps - Kell - Slot It. Chapparal (best lap time 8.164)

2nd - 101 laps - Harry - NSR Porsche 917K (8.532)

3rd - 97 laps - Brandon - NSR Ford P68 (8.653)

4th - 96 laps - Glen - NSR Ford P68 (8.626)

5th - 95 laps - Graham - NSR Ford P68 (8.740)

6th - 93 laps - Travis - NSR Porsche 917K (8.363)

7th - 91 laps - Steve CT - Fly Porsche 917 (9.663)

8th - 90 laps - Andrew - NSR Porsche 917K (8.826)

9th - 90 laps - Neil - NSR Ford GT40 Mk.IV (8.839)

10th - 88 laps - Warrick - NSR Porsche 917K (8.800)

11th - 72 laps - Saso - Scalextric Ferrari P4 (10.156)

As of the next round Kell's Slot It. Chapparal will need to be de-tuned to be eligable to compete in this class. The preferred motor option is a NSR Shark 20,000km, with the Slot It. 19.500 rpm motor or the standard Mabuchi motors could also be replaced. BTW... A nice job there by still Steve CT in the Fly to be mixing it withs the NSR classics.

Race 3 Open Rally (2wd & 4wd) (2:30 min heats)

1st - 98 laps - Kell - Spirit Renualt 5 (best lap time 8.698)

2nd - 91 laps - Graham - Ninco Citroen C4 (9.109)

3rd - 89 laps - Harry - (9.326)

4th - 88 laps - Travis - (8.905)

5th - 87 laps - Brandon - NSR Renualt Clio (8.726)

6th - 84 laps - Warrick - (9.743)

7th - 84 laps - Neil - SCX Subaru (9.489)

8th - 83 laps - Glen - Ninco Celica (9.402)

9th - 82 laps - Steve CT - SCX Fiat 131 (10.375)

10th - 69 laps - Saso - SCX Ford Serria (10.193)

2nd - 99 laps - Travis - Ford GT (8.905)

3rd - 97 laps - Steve CT - Mosler (8.916)

4th - 96 laps - Andrew - Ford GT (9.106)

5th - 96 laps - Brandon - Mosler (9.008)

8th - 93 laps - Mark - Ford GT (8.958)

9th - 93 laps - Harry - BMW M3 (9.081)

10th - 91 laps - Jeff - Lambroghini Murcielago (9.381)

11th - 90 laps - Michellie - Mosler (9.000)

12th - 89 laps - Graham - Lambroghini Murcielago (8.980)

13th - 71 laps - Saso - Ferrari F360 (9.841)

A big field for our Ninco GT race with a lot of good battles in the mind field. In the last heat there was a 4 way battle for 3rd with 3 of the guys racing for the place on track and the 4th watching on.

Race 2 Le Mans Prototypes - LMP (2:30min heats)

1st - 112 laps - Kell - (best lap time sub 8 sec.)

2nd - 104 laps - Harry (8.365)

3rd - 99 laps - Steve CT (8.263)

4th - 96 laps - Travis (8.144)

5th - 96 laps - Brandon (8.745)

6th - 96 laps - Chelsea (8.912)

7th - 95 laps - Graham (8.659)

11th - 82 laps - Saso (9.243)

12th - 81 laps - Michellie (9.221)

13th - 78 laps - Glen (9.045)

In the faster classes like LMP experience plays a big part in lap times with the 4 most experienced racers taking the top spots. Sorry to Kell about the lap times, in the middle lanes he was mostly running sub 8 second laps but they did not get recorded but after a long countback he won the race easy.

Race 3 V8 Supercars (2:30min heats)

1st - 88 laps - Steve CT (best lap time 9.348)

2nd - 81 laps - Kell (8.477)

3rd - 78 laps - Harry (9.691)

4th - 77 laps - Graham (10.397)

5th - 75 laps - Matt (10.527)

6th - 34 laps - Saso (10.412)

A strong performance by Steve for the class win. But unfortunely due to availablity issues there was only a very small field of entries and it looks V8 Supercars will be replaced by Scalextric Minis next month.

Coming up tonight Friday the 17th of September we are racing the following classes:-

Classic Sports Cars - Non-Magnet at 10 volts

Classic Touring Cars - Non-Magnet at 10 volts

Open Modern GT Cars - Non-Magnet at 10 volts

16th - 89 laps - Carlos - NSR Ford GT40 Mk.IV (8.851)

17th - 86 laps - Mark C - NSR Ford P68 (8.834)

18th - Disqualified - Kell - Fly Porsche 917K/Slot It. Chapparal (Illegal Motors in both cars)

What a race. We started with 16 NSR's and 2 Fly's on the start grid and all bar 1 car running the NSR Shark 20k (control) motor. Given the times being ran by the top 10 cars it was always going to be about who had the least crashes and for this night that was Harry's Porsche. Then came the next 3 people all 1 lap down. As you can see lots of people love to race there NSR classic cars and who can blame them. But even though this looks like a NSR charity event it is still nice to see Steve CT pushing the Fly Porsche hard to 5th place, and all it has had due to it is a NSR Shark 20k motor with a 13 tooth pinoin and some BRM tyres. So don't be afraid anyone we can make any car as fast as a NSR, all it take is a few NSR parts....lol.

Race 3 Open GT Cars (1:30min heats)

1st - 63 laps - Kell - Ninco Ferrari F360 (best lap time 8.090)

2nd - 63 laps - Glen - NSR Mosler (8.178)

3rd - 62 laps - Harry - NSR Mosler (7.993)

4th - 62 laps - Steve CT - Ninco Mosler (8.579)

5th - 61 laps - Travis - Fly Ferrari F40 (8.145)

6th - 61 laps - Chelsea - Ninco Renualt Megane (8.508)

7th - 60 laps - Graham - Ninco Ford GT (8.084)

8th - 59 laps - Brandon - Ninco Ford GT (8.375)

9th - 59 laps - Warrick - Ninco Mosler (8.708)

10th - 58 laps - Mark N - Ninco Lamborghini Murcielago (8.543)

11th - 54 laps - Andrew - Ninco Lotus Exige (8.505)

12th - 54 laps - Michellie - Ninco Lamborghini Murcielago (9.095)

13th - 53 laps - Mark - NSR Mosler (9.233)

This class has a mix of a few super quick GT cars and a few stock GT cars. Due too the larger number of people tonight we had to reduce the times for the final races heats to try and finish before it got too late. So after a 9 min sprint Kell and Glen finished up less then a lap apart with a few really quick cars hot on there heals. I can see this class going sub 8 seconds for most of the field soon.

Coming up next Friday the 24th of September we are racing the following classes:-

Ninco - Modern GT Cars - Non-Magnet at 10 volts

SCX - Stock out of the Box - Magnet at 14 volts

Nascars - Non-Magnet at 10 volts

Racing will start at 7pm.

Here are some pictures from last Friday nights races the 17th of September 2010.

Nice sideways action from Graham's Camaro out of the Dog Leg section.

ClassicTouringCars17-9-2010.jpg

This has become a really popular class that includeds muscle cars as well as the classic giant killer smaller cars. All cars are restricted to stock 18,000 rpm motors to keep costs down and racing even.

ClassicSportsCars17-9-2010.jpg

Have you ever wondered what a $2000 slot car grid would look like. 16 NSR's and 2 Fly's all lined up for the class photo before the race. I guess not everyone is anti NSR....lol.

Lots of fast cars and a lot more soon to be faster cars.

A few more none NSR cars this week to mix up the field. Hopefully when the next lot of NSR parts arrive the Fly cars can move up the standings a bit.

*I would like to make a rule clear that this class runs a NSR Shark 20K control motor. This has been part of the rules for this class from day one. In the interest of letting new people joining the class in. I have overlooked the motors that some cars have been running, but it has now come to my attention that some competitors think that it is OK to run other brands of motors as long as they are 20,000 rpm or less. This is not the case and as of December 2010 any cars not running the NSR Shark 20k motor will be disqualified from the results unless they are granted a exemption for new drivers before the race starts. Which will mean in the future that only cars running mabuchi style NSR Shark 20k motors will be allowed to run.

Race 3 Open Rally (2wd & 4wd) (2:00 min heats)

1st - 83 laps - Graham - NSR Fiat Abarth S2000 (best lap time 8.400)

4th - 75 laps - Travis - Fly BMW M3 (8.422)

5th - 75 laps - Chelsea - Ninco Subaru Impeza (9.230)

6th - 74 laps - Steve CT - SCX Fiat 131 (9.046)

7th - 73 laps - Colin - Avant Peugeot 307 (8.720)

8th - 72 laps - Michellie - Ninco Ford Focus (9.190)

9th - 67 laps - Mark N - Spirit BMW 2002 (9.340)

10th - 62 laps - Saso - Ninco Toyota Celica GT4 (10.233)

Those NSR rally cars are quick.

Coming up tonight Friday the 8th of October we are racing the following classes:-

Ninco - Modern GT Cars - Non-Magnet at 10 volts

Le Mans Prototypes - LMP1 & LMP2 Cars - Non-Magnet at 10 volts

On Monday the 4th of October we ran our first NSR Classic endurance race over 3 hours.

The aim:- To put together 6 teams to cover the 6 lanes on our Ninco track and ran the cars for 30mins on each lane to total 3 hours. A 5min rest period between heats was allowed for maintance. Teams could change drivers as many times as they wanted as long as they pulled up in their pit box. Only 1 car was allowed to be used for the whole event by each team and and all parts changed had to be fitted to the original car.

From the start of the race the sister team of Michellie and Chelsea (Michels) showed how hard they would be to beat by being 1 lap down on Warwick and Kell (Team SS) at the end of the first 1/2 hour after starting in lane 1 (maybe the hardest lane on the track).

Segment 1

200 laps - Team SS - Porsche 917k

199 laps - Michels - Porsche 917K

190 laps - Ford Racing - Ford P68

177 laps - Inpain - Ford P68

176 laps - SCF - Porsche 917k

148 laps - The Scores - Ford GT40 Mk.IV

At about the 55 minute mark Team SS start to have motor problems and had to limp arould the track only the next lane change losing a few seconds a lap.

Segment 2

206 laps - Michels - Porsche 917k

194 laps - Ford Racing - Ford P68

192 laps - Team SS - Porsche 917k

181 laps - SCF - Porsche 917k

177 laps - Inpain - Ford P68

160 laps - The Scores - Ford GT40 MK.IV

Before starting segment 3 Team SS decided to change the motor in there car which lost them the first 10 minutes of the segment and dropped them behind by over 60 laps.

Segment 3

199 laps - Michels

192 laps - SCF

187 laps - Ford Racing

182 laps - Inpain

142 laps - The Scores

138 laps - Team SS

At this point there was nothing in it between the top teams with Team SS fighting their way back and Michels keeping the foot down. By now it was a fight for 3rd and maybe 2nd place.

Segment 4

205 laps Team SS

204 laps - Michels

197 laps - Ford Racing

193 laps - SCF

169 laps - Inpain

152 laps - The Scores

Into the last hour final places started to show with only a mechanical being the teams biggest threat.

Segment 5

204 laps - Team SS

203 laps - Michels

195 laps - Ford Racing

188 laps - Inpain

184 laps - SCF

175 laps - The Scores

In strong effort Ford Racing topped the segment by a few seconds to beat the 2 stars of the day and cement a well deserved second.

Segment 6

198 laps - Ford Racing

198 laps - Michels

194 laps - Team SS

186 laps - SCF

177 laps - Inpain

167 laps - The Scores

When the dust had cleared and all was said and done the 2 girls from Michels left the field in their wake with a average of 201.5 laps per segment and with mum and dad from Ford Racing coming in second i'm sure there would have been a happy night for the family. As for Warrick and Kell from Team SS it was a day of what if's (was the car standard?) and what could have been (if the motor didn't die). For Myself and Dennis in SCF a solid race but in the end just lacking the pace to get a podium. Inpain, a great effort by the guys to try and mix it with teams that had a lot more practice on the track with these cars. Then last but not least The Score with mum and dad and their 2 boys, 5 & 7 still turning fast laps from all the family but just a few too many crashes.I look forward to when the boys can challenge the girls in the future.

Final Results

1209 laps - Michels - Porsche 917k - Chelsea & Michellie (best lane time 8.177)

1161 laps - Ford Racing - Ford P68 - Mark & Johanna (8.256)

1133 laps - Team SS - Porsche 917k - Warrick & Kell (8.002)

1112 laps - SCF - Porsche 917k - Mathew & Dennis (8.447)

1070 laps - Inpain - Ford P68 - Marc & Gary (8.340)

944 laps - The Scores - Ford GT40 Mk.IV - Neil, Karen, Tim & Mitch (8.365)

All in all a fun way to spend a public holiday and I hope we can do it again soon.

Regards

Why race on any old figure 8 track when you could be racing on a track designed to replicate a piece of Australian motorsport history like Oran Park Raceway.

Morning, just wanted to congratulate Matt for his race centre,my 2 boys and i went and raced last night for the 1st time there, and we enjoyed it.The oran pk circuit is a bottler in my opinion.Always nice to have a run on new tracks, although we did no good as the boys outdrove their oldman (thats not hard to do) we all had fun,my boys are hooked again and are keen to race more often.

Cheers Matt and thanks again Colin M
