1/32 Monogram Lola Gt

Recommended Posts

Can you post some more info about the chassis, please?

DM it is the standard Monogram chassis that came with the car when it was released back in the sixties.

They handle well if the power is sorted, there is one running very well in the IPS proxy series.

A beautiful job. The old Monograms can live with modern productions when done as well as that.

One of the other kits that chassis was used in was the Ferrari 275P. On that I soldered a brass stop each side of the guide to limit swing. The motor is outwardly the same, a red FT16.

My Lola T70 kit (SR3212/700) used a later chassis with a drop-arm. Monogram called it a "swing" pickup, though the lightweight piano-wire arm was actually sprung to hold it down. The chassis was/is mainly brass but with an alloy rear axle bracket and vertical side-pieces. At the front it was held by lugs (?) in the moulding, so there were just two screws at the rear to undo.

It had a different motor too, a silver-grey 16D that M'gram called a Tiger Super X-110.

John Surtees and Jackie Stewart raced the real cars in the Can-Am series.

I have a 1967 American book whose author describes his heavily modified versions of the early Monogram chassis.
