Well the last of the Australian rounds of the proxy has been run and won

Just a quick introduction to the track ....



35 Mtr purpose built routed rally track, 34 corners, positive and negate camber, with various radius corners from flowing to hairpin ...... two straights 3mtrs each with a 360 deg in the middle, it was all routed by hand .... so it's nice and rough, no two laps are the same, and tests the driver as well as the car.

As the surface is anything but flat and smooth, most cars that have severe tyre wear suffered, anything with low ground clearance was in trouble, as did quite a few on the famous hairpin .... most cars had problems some every time

As a change for the final round of the Oz Rally my round was run in one hit ..... 20 laps .... 700 mtrs in one stage

With this format a lot of the cars started to run run out of grip around half way, others never missed a beat, some got better !

and a bloody good drive of "THE" Seat 131 - I really thought it might have struggled on your track.

Now I really miss not being there to see your performance.

Lap time of 21.9 on SCX tyres not bad eh. Must check with my works engineer as to what tyres we should run on it after the proxy is over (what's happening Tore?).

John ... that thing of yours just could not find any traction .... too small diameter tyres ..... i can understand your disappointment, and if you want to leave it here i can find a nice home for it

Yeah ! Little said about emptying the bag . You were talking about the garbo bag weren't you .No probs on the marshalling Mel , you can just pay me in um um , a new recieved slot car . Overall besides the grip factor I was surprised as well with most of the cars getting around the track. We were saying before the cars even got here that most of the corners on Gazza's track should play havic. The big surprise was mine as it has a Ninco guide an they usually have no worries but even my car had the prob of deslotting on the one corner I thought it would manage.It was a long and tireing day.I dont think I worked that hard at my day job

Congratulations everyone, this looks like one of the toughest tracks in this proxy so finishing high here says a lot about your car.

Nah, it is my first proxy car that won a race (rally) so it has some sentimental value. I am very sentimental, you know.

Now we have to wait for a sign of life from Tore. He has been very quiet lately and the site that he set up for the proxy doesn't work anymore, so I would not be surprised if he doesn't have time to run the final round in Norway. It would be logical to keep the Australian cars then and send the rest back to Europe.

Can't do that ... it's a ford

It goes great in a straight line but a bit to light in the front, end for my track anyway

As Tore is MIA, the talk at the moment is to finish the proxy now.

I already have 4 requests for there cars to be returned, if anyone else is of the same mind, then if you PM me your address i will try and get your car (s) back ASAP

Thanks to Gazza for the round and John for the (possibly) final standings. I would be happy to get my cars back at this point, it has been a long series and I am happy that despite missing and non scoring in the first three rounds my cars all scraped their way off the bottom of the pack somehow or other and for me that is a good result. I will pm my address details.

Thanks to all involved in the series, it was a lot of fun and I hope something similar can be organised for next year, if so I will be in it.

Another great event, thanks Gary.

Been in contact with Tore .... he's sending the entrants list over and organizing some $$$$$ to help with postage

Everything should be finalized by next weekend

Just a quick note to say that all the cars left early this week and are on there way back to their owners

The Aussie cars have been sent individually to each owner and Kidvoltage and Reek455 have made a special trip

The rest are all together and have been packaged up and are on there way to Tore and he'll organize the return of each of them

I got mine back all safe and sound thanks Gary.

The tyre wear on the Delta is major and the little Escort also has quite significant tyre wear which is worth noting should the series run again. The wear on the Stratos which was on ultra hard old stock tyres, the only ones I could get to fit, is absolutely nil, no grip but definitely long lasting!.

That was the problem with most of the cars .... just about all the tyres had gone past there use by date by the time the last two tracks were run .... next time i think that the tyres should be open to any type of rubber (not silicon) tyres
