News release from Pioneer Slot Cars

Pioneer slot cars are pleased to announced the release of two new liveries of the Mustang Notchback:

P009, 1967 SCCA Trans-Am Champion, Mustang Car #17, driver Jerry Titus.

In 1967, Shelby's lead driver was Jerry Titus, who had won an SCCA B-production national championship in a GT350R. Titus was both a hard-charging driver and the editor of Sports Car Graphic Magazine. By the end of the season he had won four races in his pale yellow #17 Mustang, making him the biggest contributor to Ford's championship that year. He probably would have won even more races if he hadn't had two major crashes.

Pioneer's model of the Championship winning car of 1967, is based on the race livery as seen at Bridgehampton that year.

The model uses the same chassis seen on the previous two Notchback releases and is fitted with the powerful TYPHOON 18000rpm motor linked to a 3:1 gear ratio in traditional sidewinder format.

This model comes with custom artwork box sleeve and also a Vehicle Data Card with facts, figures and info on the race car.

The popularity of the previously released Mustang Notchbacks demanded the quick release of the racing partner car to accompany the blue #22 car of Bill Maier. Specifications are identical to previous racing Mustang releases with TYPHOON 18000rpm motor linked to a 3:1 gear ratio in traditional sidewinder format.

This model is released in specially designed artwork box over-sleeve.

Both of the above models will be available May 10th and pre-orders are open with many international online dealers from 19:00hrs GMT, April 25th.

Other Pioneer models currently available are .........

Well, well, well, looks like some more cars for the stable.... The yellow looks good but the red looks a stunner.

My old man was a good friend of Marcotti, 40+years ago. I got to meet his two daughters, Lisa & Nina back in the mid '70's. They were nearly as good looking as the red Mustang. Actually one of them, with the curly hair - Lisa - was even better looking. Now lives in Inverness, Scotland.

Lisa, Lisa, Lisa.

Jules, Jules, Jules.

Hey Mopar,

I hope youve been saving all your pocket money. That big black Dodge must be getting close now. Even the unpainted proto looks better than the finished Scaly version. Yeah I know the Scaly is a 69 and this is a 68 but.......

Did the charger ever race in a touring or trans am series? Your a lot older than me Rick so you might know :band: . I am just wondering if it would qualify for a classic touring class. I really don't think it ever ran in Trans Am but maybe something else?

Hi Trev,

It ran as a stock car, the precursor to NASCAR in the late 60s. Buddy Baker and Bobby Isaacs are probably the best known drivers, Im sure there are lots of others. The version they used had a flush fitting rear window though, not the countersunk version as used in street cars and this version. The Charger 500 version was used for racing. It improved the aero flow a little bit but the car was still a nightmare to run on the big tracks. The front end grill layout produced massive lift and the front of the car would literally come off the deck at high speeds. Not good at 180mph. Hence the Daytona 500 special that they produced with the big pointy nose and high rear wing. On the smaller tracks the Charger was OK and won its fair share of races.

Have a good night tonigh Trev. :band:
cheers

When I was young I'd look at this car and figuratively scratch my head over the styling, it took a decade or two before it finally made sense to me. What a great issue, it's even got a nice rake but a bit bummed that the Assassin Charger had hubcaps, which means this one will (have well detailed, scale-looking ones) too. Still partial to the Mustangs, hoping to one day see a white-painted street GT 390 fastback with (I know I'm asking a lot now) the stock honeycomb wheels, quad exhaust tips, a blue GT stripe and black interior.

Of course, you could always grab a white kit when they're available and do it yourself.

Hey Rick, I just saw this post. A bit slow eh'. No money saved Rick. Mine are paid for in full already when inaslot had a glitch & the bullitt charger was for available for preorder when the mustang was first available for preorder. That must have been a year ago. Anyway suffice to say I cant wait for this one to be finished!
Thanks
Greg

Hi all

I ran my new Black and Gold Stang today however the rear tyres are so large they are rubbing on the guards. I had to unwind the rear screws so it would run. I think I will have to fold the rear guards (I mean sand them back a bit )so the tyres will spin.Anyone else had this trouble.
