Johnsxr8
Hi John This is getting to look more and more enticing each week. Don't forget to guve us a yell when your ready to roll out your tape and I'll try to find some time. Thanks Bruce, i am looking to lay copper tape this weekend, i will be spending all day Sunday on the track, but i will be doing some more work on the track in the next few nights to have it ready by Sunday for laying tape but i am also hoping to possibly start laying some tape before Sunday if i can find enough time. Johnsxr8
Track is now running, i still have a few little bugs to sought out but generally everything turned out good. A big thanks to Dreamer for spending half of his Sunday helping me lay copper tape, the help was greatly appreciated. I will post some more photos in the next couple of days. But i do have a video, my test driver is my 23 month old son so i had to set track power to 11volts and his controller was set to 50%max throttle (one of the great parts of pbpro) so the cars do go much faster. I also need to teach him how to change lanes.http://s455.photobucket.com/albums/qq271/J...21072010008.mp4 Edited July 21, 2010 by Johnsxr8 Quote Check out North Brisbane Slotcar Racing: http://northbrisslots.forumotion.com

Johnsxr8
Thanks for the compliment DM, ok here are a couple more photos, i still have more fences to put up and tidy up all the wiring underneath the table but its getting there, i am also having a track test day this Sunday to see how see goes with 6 cars on there at once, so far i have only had 2 at once, my best lap time on the track so far is a 13.1 sec lap but it wont be long before i break into the 12 sec barrier. Johnsxr8
John looking fantastic mate I really hope I can make it over on Sunday! Whats the traction like?Cheers, Foggy Thanks mate, yeah the traction is quite good have added weight though to the v8`s and run mjk tyres also tried standard scaly tires on same v8 and found it to slide around a bit more but i dont know how old the tyre was and could have done with a bit of a sand to true the tyre. I have found my scaley nascar box stock except mjk tyres to be one of the fastest cars i have driven on it yet but in saying that i havent driven all of my cars on it yet John Quote Check out North Brisbane Slotcar Racing: http://northbrisslots.forumotion.com

Dreamer
Had a chance to run a couple of cars on this track - Thanks John - not only looks great, but fun and challenging to drive. Ran a weighted V8 which was very smooth, another with no weight which struggled a little for traction in some of the slower corners - both had MJK's. Track has plenty of room for six cars and is a good combination of fast sections and some technical bits. If I can get organised by then I'll try to pop in. Johnsxr8
Hey guys, finally got around to doing some more work on the track this weekend and now its fixing up the raised corners so there is more track on the outside of the corners and removing all the mdf barriers as they were making a mess of the cars and replace them with my old plastic ones from my plastic track which look more realistic anyway i just need to paint the red and white ones to match the scaley silver ones also started on some plaster work, gee this is going to take a while to do the scenery side of things but i plan on having the track for many years to come so it will give me something to do in my spare time, here are some pics, The white fence is just sitting there at the moment till i paint it. here is some scaley fencing along pit straight will update some more soon. manic35
Looking very impressive John, plaster is a lot of fun to play with the results are completely transforming. I'm looking to seeing how you scenery the track. This side looks excellent with the grandstand incorporated. Johnsxr8
Thank you as i am a bit of a newbie when it comes to scenery, i only got to play with a little bit of plaster on my last track but this time i want to spend a little more time and not rush things, i look forward to putting grass on the hills and some trees around the track, but that will all come with time. dangermouse
Track looks great, here is a tip with the scenery John which you may know of anyway... If you have an old food blender around, you can use it to make ground cover and tree foliage. I take small pieces of foam - the stuff cushions are made out of and chop them up in a blender. While it is spinning I add a squirt of green poster paint - I have a few different greens and some brown and black to produce a range of colours. I then empty it out on some newspaper to dry. Easy way to make heaps of ground cover and foliage for trees. You can also do this with dish washer sponges the coloured foam ones - I buy green or yellow ones and blend them and add paint it gives a different texture to the other foam. cheers DM
