bandit
Evening all,i saw in local retailer today 2 scalextric kits, chev and aston martin db9,white kits with 3x motors and axles kits, for 72 bucks each, anyone else seen these around? dangermouse
Saw them at the local hobby shop as well - good value - 3 motors alone would probably cost that much - and there is a heap of other gear - just remember the axles, wheels and gears are 3mm so they won't fit in standard Scalextric cars 1 x Car Body, 1 x Underpan, 4 x Endurance hubs and tyres, 12 x Body screws, 2 x Ball race bearings 5 x Pinion gears SP 5 x Spur gears 5 x Axles 1 x SP 20,000 rpm motor and wires 1 x SP 25,000 rpm motor and wires 1 x SP 30,000 rpm motor and wires Guide blade and braids Magnets cheers DM
Ember
Might have to get one just to be able to make use of the bunch of Scaley "tuning spares" I've got. I'm sure that's the reason for Scaley releasing them in the first place. How ugly are those alloy wheels though. Would've been nice to see something that could have inserts added. Quote Computers. kalbfellp
I think Scalex have released the Aston to try and clear some of their "tuning stock" and try and get people to buy it. dangermouse
How ugly are those alloy wheels though. Would've been nice to see something that could have inserts added. I think someone on SF or SCI said that all wheels take inserts - I think there is no insert on the back to show it is a metal wheel - least I hope that is the case.. cheers DM
Ember
Fingers crossed. I'll probably be up for a pair of the Astons. As you say, the three motors alone are almost the price of the pack. dangermouse
I don't think it does come with 4 inserts - I misread the post - the guy said there are 4 matching alloy wheels not 4 matching inserts... apparently the extra axles are all different lengths - looks like this is Scaley - Rugs-a-Million sale - but wait there is more - we also throw in 5 different size axles cheers DM
Ember
I wondered the point of 5 different axles. They're looking to move the remnants of the 'tuning spares' in a hurry and All stock must go! Quote Computers. They'll never catch on. kalbfellp
The tuning parts have not sold very well. Retailers ( Model shops not slot shops) had a lot of the parts sitting in stock as they brought stock thinking it would do as spares for the cars only to find that being 3mm customers had to change the lot. The motors mostly lack brakes. So after buying initial stock they did not reorder,so I assume Scalex have a large stock to clear. I am not convinced that even at that price they are great value. Stubbo
Just saw on the MRE site pics of all the new cars. Includes C3214 Holden Torana L34 Marlboro HDT and C3210 Lotus Cortina Bathurst which has a picture of the Jim McKeown Cortina. http://www.mre.co.uk/catalogue/search_results.php?offset=120&department_ID=1&subsection_ID=2&make_Name=Scalextric&category_Name=&type_Name=&sort=&sort= Quote Alan Stubbings

Cleveland
Talk about left field for the GT40. I would have never of guessed that one from 1970 Sebring. At first I thought Scalextric had been reading the forums and posted a pic for a decoy , But not so. The car is 1049 and driven by Grant,Heppenstall & Brown. THe race livery is a fair bit different to the pic MRE has posted, but it at least we GT40 collectors will have another livery for the collection ( Page 396 & 397 in "THe Ford that beat Ferrari"). Ember
It's Scalex. You should've guessed they'd find a yellow livery somewhere Clevo. Quote Computers. They'll never catch on. dangermouse
Yellow is the new red .... Jag and GT40 Here is the GT40.. and the model Sebring 1970 - different choice - good to see they went for a new livery rather than one that NSR or slot.it are doing. you just beat me to it Clevo... oh and even though my Dad had a Ford so we didn't like Peter Brock I still think I will get the Torana... Ember
So... when will you boys get picky on the differences between the Scaley offering and the real car? Quote Computers. Cleveland
So... when will you boys get picky on the differences between the Scaley offering and the real car? Its already started Emb's, check my post. Im pretty impressed with what Scaley is offering this year with the classic range. Hopefully someone out there will have some decals finished before the Torana is released to fill the blank "Marlboro" spots. Should be a popular livery. An another Jim Clark Lotus 49 Clevo Quote Resized to 83% (was 1006 x 146) - Click image to enlarge
Ember
But, the pic from MRE is only a 'model rendering' not the actual model. Doesn't Patto already do all the Marlboro decals one could ever need? Quote Computers. They'll never catch on.
