So many cool things...

The new 6car powerbase looks awesome, but a USB cable + the old 'new' powerbase + race coordinator = the same system - the wireless controllers...

The Exige's are cool, as is the Kombi...

There are a few nice paint jobs on existing cars like the #23 Camaro.

The large range of classic F1's are awesome.

The new Quick Build are the biggest must for me... I have the original one, and want 4x more cars to have 6 car digital quick build racing...

It seems scalextric digital future is super resistant cars as that seems to be what comes in the sets - kind of makes sense to me but it may be the future for more of their cars unfortunately - 500 pounds for a digital set with 6 super resistant cars hmmm

I have a 250F motor is a bit overpowered, it goes fine on a magnet track - needs some work for wood no mag - ok once tuned though

tyres are skinny like they should be but this is a challenge for tuning

Is it just me?

It seems much of the the 2014 range is aimed squarly at the collector market. I understand the competition element in producing the 70's f1's, and I for one am very interested in many cars from this 2014 range, and not just the f1 cars. My kombi is having a visit to the tune bench very quickly!

Collector market is the bread and butter when there ate so many manufacturers vying for the shopper dollar.

Is it just me or have the scalextric pre-order prices increased 20% between 2013 and 2014? You could easily pickup a 2013 car from anywhere in oz for around $50 - $54.... Now everything is close to $64+

I should also make a note of the massive time frame between the rest of the world and Australia for deliveries - no doubt the Aussie retailers are spewing that many of the new models are available months before they are received in Australia......

I'm a big fan of the slot.it worldwide deliver and then release on the same date. .....

Even worse than the delay on receipt in Australia has got to be the likes of what happened with the latest XB where Scaled were selling them off cheap before Aussie dealers even got hold of their orders.

I might just stop buying rtr cars and stick with resin kits - more fun in it - I find at the end of the day RTR cars are just another shiny bauble

mind you I think I will knock of the shelf full of kits before I get too many more....

Scalex seem to be taking way too long to delivery some cars to Australia. We are still waiting for the Cougar, that was available overseas before Christmas! Scslex's answer seems to be to try and ban overseas retailers selling into other countries!

Very poor service!

Gets worse , The open wheel early GP Lotus is listed at $75 on Armchairs site . They are usually the cheapest , who knows how much other retailers will be asking ?

Things are not exactly stacked in favour of the local dealers in any way shape or form and it's not just the foreign exchange rate. For the higher price it is quite likely that the Aussie retailer takes less profit by the time you add in their shipping, insurance, power, rent, internet access, staff wages (if they have any) etc. Cost of living and doing business in Australia is higher than it is in America. And the UK and US have turnover volume potential to make up for a lower price point.

Since there's only a dollar or two between Scalextric and Slot.it cars on Armchair Racer's site, I know which would get my money first. Sure Scaley are bringing out some lovely cars but your almost guaranteed to get a lemon out of the box with Scalextric, ill fitting tyres, wheels, gears etc, the list goes on. At least with Slot.it you are getting more bang for your buck, professional slot cars not toys for kids.

And don't get me started on those over priced Scaley Super Resistant V8 Supercars (when and if they ever arrive) , if they can put windows in a Nascar surely they can correct the V8's.

We have received an update from Scalextric that the livery on the Torana to be released in 2014 will be changing.

The livery will not be the car driven at Phillip Island in 2011 and indications are it may be the car driven by Brock and Sampson at Bathurst in 1974.

Once we receive confirmation of the updated livery our web site will be updated.

I still have my doubts that the red and white beast will ever be released. Happy to be proven wrong though.

I should mention that HOrnby have obviously been looking in great detail at the wireless offerings on the market and now have a new product: RCS

It appears to support wireless controllers and a whole host of other features (KERS, weather)

C8435-RCS-Pro.jpg

Went looking for more information on RCS today, and guess what...

Nothing...

It appears that Scaley have remove all referance to it on their site...

Not sure if it's been canned, delayed, or is being 're-invented', but from what I can tell, no official news on it anymore...

In the New for 2014, there isn't even a mention of digital anymore either...

Old Links don't go anywhere either...

www.scalextric.com/RCS

http://www.scalextri...scalextric-rcs/

Curious to know what the story behind this is though...

Hmmm, apparently they are rebranding it from RCS to ARC...

Wired analog due late this year, and wireless / digital due late next year...

Oh, and the wireless link to your phone/tablet requires bluetooth 4... Time to buy a new phone I thinks...
