Is anyone else on the forum from Brisbane? Probably not but if there is anyone, where do you shop for your slot supplies? I find it a little annoyimg that there seems to be very few hobby shops that seriously stock good amounts of slot cars supplies in Brisbane.

I mainy shop at HobbyOne or the ocassional Toy World Store although there stocks are limited and typically on the expensive side.....

Anyone else???

Cheers Manic35 :)

Manic our Brisbane racing group buy nearly all our non Scalextric cars from a fellow racing member at just about the best prices in the country for Fly, Ninco and SCX cars. For Scalextric we nearly all shop from Scalex World in Adelaide however, in Brisbane we nearly all use Hobbyrama at Stafford for those must see, must buy and have now Scalextric and SCX cars. They beat Hobby Ones prices by about $8 - $12 a car.

Sounds like there's not a lot of difference between Brisbane and Sydney in this area, so I wouldn't be too annoyed Manic35. Same goes for the US and Asia, well stocked slot shops are few and far between. Slot cars tends to be a specialised hobby and it would be difficult to live if that's all you sold.

The number of bricks and mortar stores with expertise and and reasonable range in Sydney is not great at all. The main shop is Sydney is run by a real 1/32 enthusiast/collector. That said, the guy that really boosted membership here sells mainly (only?) via the Internet (great work Jamie!), so if its bricks and mortar you're after, your choices are limited and somewhat more expensive.

Maybe, along the lines of another post for recommended websites, we could post links to shops in Aus and overseas where people recommend buying from ? i.e. no negatives or flames, just ones you'd recommend. I've noticed one well-known UK store join as a member and post here, and posters have made in-passing references to others. Just a thought.

There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who don't

If you're after various parts for scratch building cars in Queensland, try Werner at ACE Hobbies in Mitchelton. Tel: 07 3355 2508, email acehobbies@bigpond.com

He is distributor for MoMo, Plafit, Sakatsu, Q-Model (to name a few) and has stacks of interesting slotcar bits.

If you're after these sorts of parts in NSW, you can get them from Ric at Liverpool Checkered Flag raceway in Prestons. Tel:9608 0702, email slotcars@iprimus.com.au

I have no connection with either of them, other than as a customer.

Hello everyone,

maniac,

go to Hobby one only to look at cars, then Thunderbird raceway, Adelaide to purchase.

Thunderbird

great price.

So, racing scalextric 25 years. where? bris?

OK, when I say racing slots for 25 years I should have clarified that that ment in a 'home track' context....nothing serious, just with my brother and mates ;)

Yeah, Thunderbird raceway does have good prices, so does Armchair Racer but I like to be able to head on in and checkout the cars in the flesh! I hardly ever purchase a car from a store (although I did on Saturday) but they always look different in the flesh.

Cheers Manic35 ;)

Manic, come to one of our Q32 race meets and see many of the Fly, Ninco, SCX and Vanquish range in the flesh at hard to beat prices. While you're here have a beer, a yack and a ton of fun.

Regards,

Glen,

I basically slotcar race with a friend and my brother. I have talked to my mate and suggested we attend a Q32 race meet. He is pretty keen but in NZ for the week, (I have also introduced him to the forum :D )

When is the next meet?

Cheers Matt

This Saturday evening up at Scarborough on the large board track with the pit stop features mentioned in an earlier post. Let me know if you want to give it a shot. You will be made to feel most welcome.
