Vale - Frank Gardner

Recommended Posts

Sad to hear today of the passing of Frank Gardner.......

Had a little bit to with Frank when I was involved with The Craven Mild Racing Team with Gricey '75 - '78 - he was a lot of laughs...

Frank was the winner of the first major car race I went to - Tasman round Warwick Farm 1971 - Lola T192 #31....

Still, we can all celebrate Frank's exploits with the soon to come Scaley Alan Mann set; a Racer P68; numerous 917s and GT40s; Phil K's Corvair; repaint a Camaro, Mustang or Torana etc etc.....

I'll have another read of my copy of his 1973 Castrol Racing Drivers Manual in his memory...

A life lived to the full...

RIP, Frank. (upstairs, the story's have already started...)

Cheers,

Tony.

There's only two questions:

1. What direction do you go

2. What's the Lap Record?

A great driver and engineer. He will be missed. Motor racing will be all the poorer for his passing. We are fast running out of the guys who could screw a car together and then race it.

He added so much both here and OS - met him in another life when racing on the tiny Crytal Palace track in the middle of London where he man handed a Camaro round a track where even Go karts would struggle

RIP

Exactly.

Was looking for his age and found it here -> Courier Mail Article

Never met the man or saw him in real live action, but did read about his exploits in "Motor Sport" with the Alan Mann Escort and how he won the British Saloon Car Championship with that little car. Certainly a great loss to the motor racing world. :huh2:

I enjoy racing. Winning or losing is secondary.
