It's that time when we all get ready to race at the annual NSR Challenge in Nelson. This is a race for the classic sports cars made by NSR. If you have been to one of these events you will not want to miss out on the biggest RTR Slot Car meet NZ has to offer. Tony and his crew do an amazing job of hosting a very well organized race meeting and the racing is just a part of it. The cars provide very close racing and the atmosphere is awesome, we get together to race and have fun all weekend. A message from Tony.......... Entry forms and rules will be out early next year and the only change will be you can now use wheel spacers. I will be limiting this event to 36 racers with preferential entry to the last year’s entrants first. More details to follow................ There are a couple of minor changes to the car rules this year, nothing too serious. We can now fit longer axles and wheel spacers for greater stability and fit the new deep wood guide that NSR have recently released. NSR have updated their motors, the older Shark 20k (orange) and the new Evo Shark (screw in) motors are the motors to use. Below are the car rules. NSR Challenge Car Rules for 2020 - Ford GT Mk IV, P68, GT40, Porsche 917K and 908/3 Rims must be the same size as what comes with the car, ie: the same width and diameter All 4 tyres must still have the NSR logo on at least one side Gluing of front and rear tires to rims to enable truing is permitted The front tyres may be tapered and or coated with clear nail varnish or clear super glue to reduce friction All wheels must have NSR classic inserts fitted Wheel inserts may be narrowed but must look complete when in place Stock classic factory NSR chassis (black) only Stock classic factory NSR motor pod (red/orange) only Any NSR clip in or screw in guides and guide spacers may be used Front axle height adjusting screws may be used if chassis has this option Axle bushes may be glued to the motor pod Sticky tape may be fitted to the motor pod and chassis to dampen movement NSR suspension kits may be fitted All cars must use NSR 11-32 metal gears Axles may be replaced and spacers may be used (any brand) Axles must be solid and remain completely round Lead may be fitted to the motor pod, chassis and or body but must remain inside the car so that it can’t be touched when marshalling the car (magnet holders may be removed) Only the Shark 20K and 21.5 Shark motors may be used, motors can be glued and or screwed in position The motor shaft may be trimmed for clearance Bodies, driver/interiors and chassis must remain complete Complete full interior must be used White kit cars may be used but they must look period correct Minimum weight of each car is 80gms, during and after each race No other modifications and/or tweaks are permitted Any car may be re-scrutineered at any time during this event The body may be removed for further inspection
