  1. The JK 'Haere Ra' Enduro has been run and won - with a great bunch of slot geeks gathering in the shed to wish our brother JK well on his (temporary) new life in Sonoma, California.

4 Race prepped Group Cs were on the start line with JK A, JK B, JK C and JK D teams duking it out for gloat. Munter, Viv, Rod and Gill all made guest appearances - significantly increasing the coolness factor on a cold, wet Sunday.  It was one of those days we we ran as fast as we could, but no one really cared who won - except Bingo who always has his game face on, regardless of the context. B)

A huge shoutout to Graeme who came to the rescue and fixed a nasty broken track socket half way through the race, and to Pedro who miraculously had a spare socket in his car so we could keep on racing(!)

In the end the JK teams finished in alphabetical order, with JK himself in the winning A team. A perfect result after a very convivial, laid back afternoon.

Thanks to all that came along. I'm already looking forward to the Thunderslot 4hr race in a few weeks time.

I have a dilemma, I am part way through building a car. I have done some test laps, and it is easily MY fastest car on my track. Do I call it done, or do I finish the rest of my planned build.

Buy another one and do a fresh, full build. We all know you want to.

My guess is the car is a Thunderslot McLaren...

  3. For those who missed the news at racing last night (and thanks for hosting Bingo), our slot-brother JK is relocating back to California for a work stint, leaving early August. To say Haere Ra to one of the great nerfers, there is a 2hr Slot It Group C teams race at my place on July 9 - the original enduro date. The race is 2-4pm with a few beers after if you're keen.

More details to come closer to the day but please get there if you can.

    Tombstone Raceway this week

    Week 1 Rotation

    1 Pioneer Legends

    2 Muscle Cars

    3 1965 to 1980 sports

I hope to be there this week, Rossco. Happy with a house class. Whatever's clever!

My 5c on the old Scalextric F1s we currently race:
I still like them. My latest one handles better than my pre65, my Pioneer Legend, my Fly Classic, my Aussie Touring, my Slot It DTM and my Muscle Car. With a new Pioneer 18k in it, it laps considerably faster on my track than most of those classes too. My Thunderslot Shelby is the only car faster.

I wonder how many in our group have actually tried to get their Scalextric F1 running really sweet? I feel like most guys have stuck with what they have in their case, month after month / year after year. If you give these old clunkers some close attention, they can be very capable runners  As always, what you get out is a direct result of what you put in - and I am happy to help anyone who needs to rework their classic F1.

If we allow new F1s models into the class I would suggest we stick to 18k FC130 / Mabuchi short cans, to keep things simple. If this is viable, Mark will know better than me which models this includes.

If we allow NSR F1s into the class, they will be in a different league - even if we re-powered them with 18k FC130s as some clubs have chosen to do. To me it seems a bit mad to take such great cars and de-tune them - even though we have no club class for them at the moment.

In saying all this, if we dropped the Classic Scalextric F1 class, in favour of NSR F1's, I wouldn't argue. I don't think the carnage would be all that much of an issue, and there is the added advantage that NSR F1's would be the first of the 'National' (ie Nelson, lol) classes we run here in the Bay.  Just don't ask to borrow a NSR F1 from me.
