Hmmm, that's an interesting idea!!! I've already bought the majority of parts for the first (Chris Frost) controller, so I'll complete that build, but I'd be keen to hear how you go and the results you get from the JayGee controller ... Cheers Richard

Waiting for the DB5 Cheers Richard

It looks like a standard pot: This particular one is 3watts and 10 Ohms, single turn: Uses 9mm diameter panel mounting holes. All pots include brass nuts and washers. Type: Single gang LINEAR taper 3W 500V DC Resistance: 10 Ohms From the DSE site ... http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefro...duct/View/R6903 Thanks Richard

Thanks Phil, still a bit more than I wanted to pay ... the first version of the controller is being upgraded for under $20; paying that same price for one component makes it look as though I'll go with the first design ... Cheers Richard

Yep, RS have them ... at $40 each! DSE have them @ $9, but are out of stock ... The one in NZ, I have to make a $50 order (pre shipping) before they will send them out to Australia, which makes it uneconomical .... @DM, yep, they have made them for under $20 - I think Dave posted a rough guide on the pricing, but you can get the transistors (MJ11015) for around $5 a pair on the Bay ... but these are a darlington pair, according to the later version I posted, there is a small voltage drop which is improved, as well as a few other features. However I'm stopped on these damn pots Cheers Richard

Greetings folks, Some of our HO members are building upgraded (transistor powered) controllers, and I've been thinking of doing the same for a long time. Although they are building the ones based on this design, I want to build the later model based on this design. However I'm having trouble locating 10 Ohm, 2W potentiometers in Australia - I've found some in NZ, but they come to around $10 each, does anyone know a local source?? Thanks Richard

Do you happen to like Red Bull? Cheers Richard P.S. The Aust. flag car is awesome!

Yep, no drama - didn't mean to suggest to take away from auslot, as it's a great site, with loads of info - we found in HO that having a local site was a bonus, but probably because most HO sites are based in USA. Cheers Richard

You're welcome to use the 1/32nd section of our local forum: http://neophytte.mine.nu/forum/ I originally set up the HO side for our local racers, but some of the group were into 1/32nd and 1/24th (mostly drag stuff) and it kinda sits there doing nothing ... Cheers Richard

I think we've been havin records lows over here - it was damn cold this morning!!! Are there any tracks (besides Bill's) NOR?? Cheers Richard
-
Please feel free to name them - I'd rather buy stuff from someone with good service, that then keeps them in business ... Cheers Richard

Another from WA - racing my HO with some others, dreaming of building a 32nd track like Bill's Cheers Richard

Thanks, no the garage is a home made job, with the accessories from a NewRay package. Check this page for details on building one yourself: http://www.carrera4fun.de/4_gebaeude/diorama2.htm Cheers Richard

I have the GMC router Phil showed a picture of, and I found it has been pretty good - although when I was routing my HO track, the lock wasn't quite accurate enough and a few parts of the track were too shallow or too deep. This is a lot more critical in HO scale than 1/32nd, so I think it would be great for that task - mine cost $45 from a large retail outlet with a large W in their name. http://routedtrack.hobby-site.com/index.php?file=tools.html Cheers Richard

I archived a bunch of stuff on our local (WA) forum here: http://neophytte.mine.nu/forum/forum.pl?fi...c_id=1193660183 The last two items are probably the ones you want! Cheers Richard

There are probably better people than me on the forum, but I'm tried my hand at resin casting ... I documented some of the trials and tribulations here: http://routedtrack.hobby-site.com/index.ph...cars.html#Item4 These are HO cars that I was working on, I've tried two 1/32nd cars, the first was a GT40 (2005 model) which I have a quick pic here: http://neophytte.mine.nu/forum/forum.pl?fi...c_id=1219906252 Cheers, HTH Richard
