  1. Gday Team well as the topic says I will be without computer and internet access for about the next 6 months so I am leaving the forum and this slotcar information world to you all to keep safe for me until I return...........it is going to be pretty hard not talking to all you guys on the daily basis that I have for what seems a lifetime now but I cant wait to see the improvements and the extra friends we will have onboard when I return, I may even get some time to start my track now......so until next time thanks for all the good times and laughs............cant wait to see how my proxy entry finishes up.........adios amigos u..........I'LL BE BACK...............CHEERS MAGOO :( :( :( :( :( :( :whip2:
  2. Mr Magoo: Second biggest distance for me. More than anything it was smooth and easy to drive. great work with this round of the proxy guys and a worthy 13th position finish for me, a little lower down the food chain than I was hoping but again look how close the end results are, WHAT A RACE, WHAT A SERIES, WHAT A BLOODY GOOD TIME, watch out sports I am coming for you next round old son.................go you good thing......congrats again guys top shelf effort :haha:
  3. when you say similar to scalex are you refering to roll cage mouldings and stuff or just seats and dash..............these things are going to be awesome
  4. Same thing that occurs when the missus is in the kitchen using the mixer or in the bathroom using the hairdryer.........every time you are trying to watch the v8's on telly, the lines are caused by the electrical interferance being drawn from the track.....I use to think the missus had a secret switch that she flicked to stop me watching telly and drinking beer(scratches belly and adjusts one self)........lol .........but she didnt its all power and current related
  5. Gday Tim Adelaide is still the Slot Capital of theworld so you sure are in the right place.........quite a few guys on the forum from Adelaide you have already heard from Hoffy and Triggy, both great guys until you hand'em a slot car controller, great to have you back onboard oldtimer, kids are a great excuse to race slots its just all the other issues they cause.............lol...welcome again Magoo
  6. I use a simple plastic box with many individual compartmants and write on the bottom of the compartment.....just need to keep control and put the right tyre back in the right compartment each time...........also gives you something to do on rainy days when they get mixed up

    Slot Radio

Enjoyed program 2 the most, its a little interesting to hear different peoples opinions and views on slot cars, but the story that Garry talks about when his little boy joey asks to use the track is pretty inspiring and something we can all learn something from thanks for the link Smallnails
  8. Pyro , the best method we have found with plastic track is to wipe track plastic with wd40 then leave it for about 20 mins then wipe with a dry cloth, to remove any excess, the rails are best cleaned with a metho dipped rag for the okay bits and very fine emery paper to remove the rust etc, unfortunately metal rails will rust over time no matter what you do but a little maintenance now and then goes a long way, temperature and condensation are the two evils for plastic track so always cover your track when its not being used, even inside the garage its amazing how much dust floats around so do what you can to keep it off your track..............cheers Magoo
  9. Craig I look forward to reading the different responses that you are going to get to this question, there are a number of aftermarket chassis that you can try when you start to explore the market the ones that instantly come to mind are Plafit, MJK, Slot-it, Parma and recently I have been interested in building some myself (have a loooooooooong way to go here) but there are some great things to be learnt, brass is a wonderfull thing but scratch building is an art form in itself, I would either go a light weight aluminium chassis or a Plafit (still learning to set one of these up properley myself) but the other guys are racing these chassis very succesfully so will have a more advanced view on this gear................good luck mate the options are HUGE
  10. Gday Emil, welcome aboard mate, some great info can be had from this lot..............it's amazing but they actually know a thing or two so dont be afraid to fire away with all the questions you will have love the track, even in modified form you can still have a fantastic layout and already have some great looking scenery there too.........hope you enjoy whitteling down the hours on here as much as we all do.......cheers Magoo
  11. great work mate already have my paintwork sorted just need to order some decals..............looking sensational
  12. Yeah mate you are probably right, they just appear so daunting as one would be led to believe that with all the screws and springs that they are a next level car with lots of adjustability, havent had mine that long but just cant seem to get it right :mosh: just another learning curve I guess........still any chance to tinker with a slot is a good thing :bday:
  13. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUDDY .....................hope you had an awesome day, and that all your pressies were slots :bday:
  14. Just been discussing the idea of an after market chassis (eg) plafit etc and the crew chief say "IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT" I reckon the current format allows both novices like myself and experienced tuners to compete on a level playing field , I think the average costs of a competative proxy car say around $120 is doable for most and I have certainly got my monies worth... I own a plafit chassis and for the novice there are just too many variables and tunabilities built into these chassis...great for the more knowledgable guys but too much for me.... the other thing to remember is once the car has completed the series you will still be able to re-use and abuse most of the components for next year (eg) wheels, axles, etc and the other used parts will be transplanted into my other cars that need not be race prepared...... this is the best series ever but i am really pleased people are thinking about ways to make it more exciting...and I will certainly have a more competative masterpeice to contend next years "BATTLE" from what I have learnt....
  15. 5TH Mr Magoo 6.30 Another fast Lola T70 fast, smooth, easy to drive (AUST) SA YOU BEAUTY .........ANOTHER TOP TEN........ . great work guys the Magoo Masterpeice is still snappin at their heels, cant wait for this round, is my little girl getting home sick
  16. manic there is no chance of you hopping the fence and becoming a SLOT-IT JUNKIE is there :dog:
  17. wow - sorry but someone had to do it .........lol

    Jervisbayring

Geat work there john old buddy the layout looks great with the variable elevations.......bet there is no regrets about going routed now..........(turns green with envy)..........you have done a very nice job of the routing is it your first effort, I dreamof the day I can make a start on mine love the piccies.............now all you would be do gooders just leave his beer fridge alone it should be sent via astralia post to me...and you guys can help him finish the track.........top shelf effort mate keep up the good work...
  19. sports, slot-it make a tool called a grub screw torque hex key...........this little jigger ensures that your grub screws are never over tightened or undertightened and ensures a perfect key to screw fit everytime, it is orange in colour and chris from thunderbird raceway sells them for about $15 maybe a couple of dollars either way give him a shout this is the greatest little tool ever......................I was having the same trouble before and it is the best money i ever spent....
  20. OUTER LIMITS RACEWAY BY MR MAGOO you guys all went to bed and left me
  21. OUTER LIMITS RACEWAY BY MR MAGOO "OUTER LIMITS RACEWAY" is one almighty mother of a 4 lane ferrador track and is best described as 19 meters of slotcar track mastery, to Mr IMUGFORD you my good man should be very proud of what you have put together, SIMPLY AWESOME. As Hoffy was only available for a limited amount of time tonight I have been asked to put together a review to disect the nights proceedings, (thanks to hoffy for the great photots)........ The first thing that must be noted is that all the results at present are not confirmed by race control and as such the listings of my cars results and findings are reflective of how in my opinion each car performed on the night, as predicted there were some upsets to our regular top 10 some of which can be explained and some that are a touch more puzzling, however here we go. CHENGLAW - QUICK ENOUGH FOR THE ROUND WIN CONGRATULATIONS OLD SON....YOU OWE ME 10,000000BAH !!!!!......lol THIS CAR WAS VERY QUICK BUT SOME FOUND IT UNPREDICTABLE ON THE LIMIT, HOOKED UP NICELY. SPORTS RACER - VERY NICE, GREAT OVERALL PERFORMANCE (THE BRIDSEMAID AGAIN BUT A FIRST IS COMING) MR MAGOO - "SLOT CAR PERFECTION" - ALL JOKES ASIDE THE MOST SURPRISED ON THIS RESULT WAS ME... THE CAR PERFORMED WELL AT OUTER LIMITS RACEWAY BECAUSE IT WAS PREDICTABLE ON THE LIMIT AND FAIRLY EASY TO DRIVE BY EXPERIENCED AND NOVICE DRIVERS...GO ME. PHIL KABLFELL - AS ALWAYS THIS CAR HANDLED SUPERBLY AND WAS VERY FORGIVING ON THE LIMIT , THE ONLY REASON THIS CAR STRUGGLED "IF THAT IS THE WORD" WAS THAT IT FELT UNDERPOWERED FOR THE TRACK.....OTHERWISE PERFECT AS ALWAYS. SIDE CAR STEVE - CAR FELT VERY NICE AND WAS EASY TO DRIVE ON THE LIMIT, PERFECTLY SUITED TO THIS RACE TRACK. DEVIOUS DAVE - QUICK ALTHOUGH A LITTLE TAIL HAPPY AND UNPREDICTABLE AT TIMES. LENNY BROKE - VERY NICE CAR TO DRIVE WITH GREAT HANDLING (donations of red spray paint can be posted to lenny at any time)- nothing a little 200 grit wet and dry wont fix.....lol FANGIO - VERY QUICK CAR TONIGHT HOWEVER SOME FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE ON THE LIMIT. OLD SLOT - VERY FINE HANDLING CAR BUT LOST THE FRONT LEFT TYRE- A SHAME THIS CAR DESERVES TO DO WELL PETEN95- SUPERB HANDLING MACHINE THAT SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER THAN IT DID, PERHAPS A LITTLE TOO LIGHT...NOT SURE. SON OF SIDE CAR - ONE OF THE MOST IMPROVED CARS OF THE NIGHT, QUICK BUT BOUNCY UNDER HARD ACCELERATION OUT OF CORNERS WHEN DRIVED AGGRESSIVELY. MCGREGOR - STILL BOUNCY BUT A LITTLE BETTER TONIGHT, CAR TRIED TO TURN ITSELF INSIDE OUT WHEN ACCELERATING HARD.......STILL BELIEVE THIS CAR WILL IMPROVE WITH RACE DISTANCE.. STEVE STEWART (SRS)- HAD A CLOSE LOOK AT THIS CAR TONIGHT STEVE HAS EVEN PUT HIS NAME UNDER THE DRIVERS WINDOW, GREAT ATTENTION TO DETAIL MATE ...STALLED ON THE START LINE IN ONE SESSION WHICH HURT AN OVERALL BETTER RESULT, CAR SUITED THIS TRACK BUT MAY BE A LITTLE TOO LIGHT FOR THIS LEG OF THE SERIES.... TERRY NOE - GOOD HANDLING CAR BUT A LITTLE UNDER POWERED FOR THIS TRACK (MAYBE GEARING WAS ITS DOWNSIDE TONIGHT) - this is just a magoo observation (what would I know) HMCSAT-NICE TO DRIVE BUT STRUGGLED WHEN PUSHED TO ITS LIMIT, GREAT PERFORMING CAR ... PHOENO28 - THIS CAR WAS GOOD TO DRIVE AT OUTER LIMITS BUT TENDED TO BE A LITTLE TIPPY WHEN PUSHED HARD... BEEJAY - ANOTHER NICE HANDLING CAR THAT WAS PUTTING POWER DOWN NICELY ALTHOUGH A LITTLE TAIL HAPPY AT TIMES...A COUPLE OF DRIVERS COMMENTED THAT THEY FELT THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST CARS OF THE NIGHT, SO IT DESERVED TO DO BETTER THAN IT DID.. ANTONY - MY LITTLE DARK HORSE...VERY SURPRISING PACKAGE, A GREATLY IMPROVED CAR OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF ROUNDS, NOBODY CAN BELIEVE HOW AN SCX POWERED CAR CAN BE SO COMPETATIVE IN THIS FIELD... GREAT JOB, THIS CAR WILL IMPROVE FURTHER.. DAISY SLOT- FAST BUT A LITTLE SLIDEY WHEN REALLY GOING FOR IT....LOVELY PRESENTED CAR. HOFFY- CAR HAD REALLY GOOD SPEED BUT SOME FOUND IT A LITTLE TIPPY WHEN PUSHED, NOT SURE WHY AS THIS CAR HANDLES VERY WELL....FAST IN A STRAIGHT LINE.. OSWALD- LOVE THE LOOK OF THIS CAR AND IT DESERVED TO DO BETTER IT FELT QUICK AND IS DOING BETTER AND BETTER EACH ROUND, FELT A LITTLE TIPPY ON THE LIMIT. RHYS FILBEE- VERY SLIPPERY TONIGHT FOR SOME REASON, COULD BE TYRES BUT NOT SO SURE WILL BE KEEN TO TRACK ITS PROGRESS NEXT ROUND, TOO DIFFICULT FOR MOST DRIVERS TO GET A GRIP ON AND TONIGHT COULD HAVE BEEN ENTERED IN A DRIFT COMP.... MANIC35- THIS CAR STRUGGLED TONIGHT AND FELT A LITTLE UNDERPOWERED, STILL CANT PUT MY FINGER ON IT AS THIS CAR HAS JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING RIGHT TO DO VERY WELL.....GRIP AND POWER WHERE ITS CONCERN TONIGHT.. WET COAST RACER- THIS CAR FELT OVERPOWERED TONIGHT AND STRUGGLED TO PUT POWER TO THE TRACK CLEANLY IT WAS VERY BOUNCY WHICH HURT AN OTHERWISE VERY GOOD CAR.. Outer limits raceway was another fantastic edition to this year proxy event and showed once again how important it is to find the balance between outright power and handling......the top 5 cars with the exception of that bloody Mc Laren were all Lolas so this body and chassis obviously suited the track well. Outer limits offers a blend of high speed and technical sections which tested both cars and drivers, I would like to thank IMUGFORD for the superb facility and a great night of racing from all the boys........the regular "FAST GUYS" were very quick on this circuit which sorted the men from the boys.....congratulations to all the competitors who have entered cars in this series you have all set an exceptionally high bench mark for next years series thankyou all for being a part of this wonderfull event....
  22. Chenglaw I am your man, I may have done the least amount of laps at the valley of all drivers on the night.....but my god man I did them with style I have my own driving criteria for saturday night................my car must be the quickest.... Did anyone notice that the mighty Mr Magoo picked the old sports racer as a top contender...just incase anyone forgot!!!!!! (And I offered to set his car up for him) Anyone who has ever driven in a slot car race / meeting has learnt something whilst doing it JOHN if you remove your car from this series I will never talk to you again.....this is my first proxy aswell and I understand your frustrations but................take the bits onboard and build a car to kick ass next proxy series..........alternatively like me you could pay someone to build it for ya...........lol :chainsaw: bring on saturday....................the night of nights
  23. Hell yeah Mr Magoo in, lets shake some oz booty over in freezy land........really hope this gets off the ground
  24. BIG call this early in the game but my money is on sports racer to take out this leg of the championship
