  1. I have been using RC for about 6 months with a webcam. It was dead simple to setup and has always worked without a hitch. I was using webcam zone trigger ver. 2.5.* . My problem is that I updated this software to the latest version and know it always brings up an invalid commandline when the cam is triggered. I have it setup exactlty the same as I had previously. It asks for a command line which I use the directory path to Webcam.exe and a parameter line which is -lap #. I can get the zone trigger software to count internally and even used the directory path for RC.exe and it opens RC program everytime I trigger the zone, so I can only there is something awry with webcam.exe. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Greg, I am using webcam with R/C. Once you have zone trigger it was really easy to set up and seems to be very reliable. I bought a new webcam on the wekend so I dont need to use the one on the laptop and now its even better than before. Give me a yell, I'll help you work it out. Track looks great, the corry works a treat, might steal that idea.

That brings back memories. My dad had one of those from when I was about 10, his had Aunger 5 slots. I remember many a time on long trips or late nights sleeping across the back seat with my head on the wheel arch as a pillow. No air-con, vinyl seats, dad smoking ciggies, those were the days. no wonder kids today are soft. I learnt to drive in it from about 13, driving dad home after a few lagers at a mates place on country roads. When I had my L's I was driving with my left leg in half cast due to 2 breaks and yes it was a manual, with no power steering. My mum used to struggle parking it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but those front seats aren't original? This would be a definate for me if it was released or if there are decals available.

Ember, That looks awesomeon your track, have stolen the last pic as my desktop background . TinTin, Magic job on the repaint, will be ordering decals from Patto to do the same, hope it's half as good as yours. I also want to do one of these xb's as the beast.

Ha, I do, you're right. The monitor is only temporary, or at least can be. I'd like to raise it up to eye level. If that was my biggest hurdle I'd be laughing.

Cheers Toast, Don't be a stranger. Have had a name change here. It's now officially "Snake Gully" Although I haven't finished the outside yet, I made driver signs to denote lane colour. Blue lane sign up close. Sorry for crap pics Also put some signage around, you can see in the first shot, haven't taken pics of them, but I can if you want. But I did get one very awkward photo op. I am also toying with the idea of adding some elevation in the centre by raising from A in the pic to a peak around that corner near point B and then down through the esses to be flat before bridge, point C. I would love to get a nice dipper feeling through the esses
  9. Rookie racing Friday night, arrive before 7:15pm. We'll be there. May see you.

Ember, I designed it deliberately that way to be a different set of turns. Believe it or not, this track started off based on Sachsenring with the fast open part flipped over to form a figure 8. Those corners are based on top right on the circuit. It then got tweaked for space, driver visibility, max possible lane length, minimum area to landscape and of course max fun to drive. Don't think I'll bother fixing it, it's just something you need to be aware of when driving blue. The rest of the lap more than makes up for it. I am in Salisbury

Embs, that corner is a thorn in my side, I hate the way it turned out, I have even tried to fix it twice, but seemed to get the same result each time, so it became a case of finish it to find out how bad it really is. Turns out to be very slow but not to bad and overall laptime isn't affected by it to much. I do know however that long guides will not turn. The monitor is fine there, the cars don't really go out of site as it is, although the plan is to lift it to eye level. I spent alot designing the track the way it is so there are no blind spots, so I don't want to create one now. Thanks Triggy, will send you PM, love your work.
  12. Thanks Miveson, looking forward to the comp. Curef99, I'm already set up. Ray, I will hunt you down this Friday night. I'm pretty sure we have already spoken a few times. See you there.

As promised in my introduction, just a few pics of my track. I will try to answer questions you may ask here also. 9mm MDF footprint 4.8m x 2. Lane lengths about 20.5m Lane spacing 100mm, 110mm outside and 60mm at closest point inside Normal tinned copper braid( not magna braid). This saved me $200 on build. layed down with 3M d/s tape. How easy is that? Dulux Suede effects as surface paint, also saved a bucket load over Ferrodore and very happy with grip 8-15v variable power supply Timing is R/C through webcam on notebook computer. Was very surprised how easy this was as well and seems very accurate. I also have reversing switches on each lane Also a small video of the first real shakedown with a couple guys from Friday night racing, before timing was done. You can race side by side for lap after lap. Very happy with outcome. Click on pic to view. Triggy, would always have a red can in the fridge, if you want to come and give your opinion and any advice on creating scenery as you have done.
  14. Nice to meet you Emb's, I had a feeling you'd be the first to welcome me. You are so right about the hobby. I was so impressed when we first went to T-Birds. No-one treated my daughter as a 10 yr girl, just another welcome car on the track. And all guys on here so happy to help anyone with anything, it certainly is one of the friendliest activities I've ever been in. I will load pics as soon as i can.
  15. Gday all, Long time listener, first time caller. Typical story, had a Scalextric 200 when I was about 10. I loved it but due to space etc, I had to set up and take down every time I used it. Scalextric classic track was very harsh on 10 year old fingers, so I didnt give it the credit it deserved. About 10 years ago we bought a LeMans 24 set that we would set up for the kids during the holidays and leave it set up for the duration. Hadnt done it for a few holidays, until last Feb my 10yr old daughter asked if we could set it up. Of course I jumped at it. I took her to Thunderbirds for a drive on a Friday afternoon and while there noticed a flyer for Friday night Rookie racing, happened to have a car that fitted the bill and went for a race that night. We have been to 95% of them since and are now almost part of the Friday night furniture. I bought some extra track peices and built my plastic track permenately with the view to do scenery, (I had been watching Embers track and was especially taken by Knoaths and Triggys tracks) and have a good home track. Anyway, found out pretty quickly my plastic design didnt accomodate good close racing and I found without magnets was no fun at all. Who am I kidding that I can do scenery, I just want to race... So it has to be wood. I watched your posts everyday learning what to do and built a track which is great fun and I beleive is unique in design. You have all been a great inspiration to me and now that my track is running, albeit, no scenery I thought it was time to say gday and show you mine, rather than being a perv in the corner
