  1. Sydney siders --- look out ! The RTA have slipped through a cash grab. Existing Red Light Cameras have changed to SPEED CAMERAS OVERNIGHT Driving down the Cumberland Highway on the way home from work heading southbound at St Johns Rd, Canley Heights, my friend said to me tonight after the redlight flashed me going through a GREEN LIGHT that the RTA was there installing the new "safety cameras" ... looks like i was one of the first to be hit! #$@#$% #$%$#% #$%#$%# #$%#$%# #$%#$%# #$%#$%# Just when i got off one too ! I was doing 75 in a 60 zone (which is downhill) HERE IS THE LIST http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/roadsafety/downl...a_locations.pdf
  2. here's a rough cross sectional image at what im wanting to achieve
  3. Thanks guys... I'll be doing a model of the part im looking at trying to replicate. @Johnnyfly - asked about CNC for the reason that one part of the track will be completely routed out, but depending on the outcome will look at the whole track in this way. That would save me a hell of a lot of time. We'll say the slot routed and 2mm across the top cut (width and length) excised leaving a 5mm lip either side. Glue down the braid either side of slot and then fill the 2mm recess with a mix of railroad ballast and pva glue to form a tar as opposed to painted track. I expect this whole thing to take quite a while to complete, but i aint in no rush... I will keep you all updated at as im embarking on such a project, as soon as xmas is over.
  4. After a little hiatus, I am "Full Steam" ahead on a new track. I've built the framework already. Need to ask a few questions though ! Currently in a designing phase, i have a rough idea on what i would like to accomplish. This is going to be more a simple 1lane scenic track as opposed to others. Ive learnt from many mistakes encountered, and will be looking at trying a few things I have yet to see in slotcar tracks. Q1. What is the width / depth of braid? Q2. 120mm width lane wide enough ? Q3. Anywhere in Sydney that does CNC ? Cheers Brendan

  9. That is actually individual land blocks .. There were some houses actually on the circut in the days, around the infield of the rally-cross. Infield taken over by lantana swamps, but the remnants of the infield is still there.
  10. There is a youtube video i saw last week - but couldnt find the link again... Ill be seeing Sam Dale for the iRace event at OP in 2 weeks. Ill get some info him. The owner has some council stipulations against him, to allow public to access the track.
  11. wow - a 2 year bump ... (is that a record ? ) after long negotiations with certain racing events, still could not gain access to track as no safety barriers... but here is a look at THE FARM (as its called) after a generous neighbour (whom hates the track) allow me onto her property. This is all i could see and get to, but a 5km track in length and only able to view a small portion of this. Too many trees. Link to another gallery of one of the racers after the jump. http://www.flickr.com/photos/irace/sets/72157622512106168/
  12. Here's a few pics Final sweeper (Left turn - looking wrong way) Track disappears into the never never "Enjoy Craven Mild" Turn 3 - reverse dipper with the blind dogleg like OP How the wooden armco's were stringed together Where the control tower once stood Start/Finish Line Must've been waiting for a while for the race to start.
  13. Heya guys.. long time no visit. Been busy getting my new businesses and company in order. Im looking for some old pics of Catalina Park raceway in the Blue Mtns. Took my son for a drive up there during the school hols and did a bit of homework. This is prob aimed at Gazza with all his retro / historical paraphanallia, but if there is anyone else with any pics during the heyday. Would be great. Like the control tower and the signage around the track. Been on autopics and oldracephotos. Ill post some pics of my visit there shortly... just on another computer ATM. If youve never been... what a beautiful track...even if the delapidation is worse than Lakeside. The undulations suprised me... Cheers Brendan

    Woodbrook Valley

Dick - for footpaths you can use plaster/clay and while damp with small squared tubular RHS and a hammer imprint it to mimic cobblestone.
  23. Boags Strongarm = discontinued ! hence its 'hard' to find. If anyone is after a bock beer, look for Montieths Winter Ale, god i miss the seasonal ales. Just released here (yes i know its a kiwi beer) but its goes down a treat. Its a shame that Cascade stopped producing these.
