    Car Spotting

As it is getting into "driving season", we have been to a few events in the past couple of weeks: The MGA register of the MGCC have an All ā€œAā€™sā€ Run ā€“ with Model A Ford and Alvis car clubs". We called in while we were waiting for the first cost of paint to dry on our patio concrete that we were painting (no; really).

    Car Spotting

Last Sat, we went to Fuel Magazine's "Coffee & Classics" in Port Melbourne. It was ripper weather; especially compared to the last few days (when will summer start???). Here are some pics: http://s143.photobucket.com/user/gpslotcars/library/#/user/gpslotcars/library/Autos/Coffee%20and%20Classics%202013?sort=4&page=1&_suid=1386544572852027010540731666477
  3. I finally got the car back on the road after 3 months; woohoo!! Some decent weather too. And then, I noticed a big patch of gear oil on the garage floor. It looks like I need a new (replacement) speedo drive. So, does anyone have any idea of where I might pick up a speedo drive from an '80's Nissan, L4 5sp gbox?
  4. Good call lenny. I am a member. But all of the recommended folks are in the east. And why would I ever cross the bridge if I don't have to???
  5. Yep.... the car was painted in the '80's. It seems that "somewhere" the door received a sufficient enough hit to sheer off one of the hinge bolts, which allowed the door to drop; which then pushed the back of the door skin over the sill and also tuck the front of it in behind the front guard (it swung like an axe). And yes Amber, "a much brighter yellow" is one way of describing it. It is English. I expected to have to work on it (some may say constantly). What I didn't expect was this sort of damage. Regardless, it ain't roadworthy like that. So I need to get it repaired ASAP. Any line on a decent guy anywhere in Melbourne would be handy.
  6. I have a "spot of bother" I need addressed fairly quickly. Anyone know a good panel beater / spray painter in the Melb inner west ? This is as it arrived off the truck from WA.
  7. Thanks for the info guys. It doesn't look good does it? I was all set to buy three of the '57 Chevs for custom paint/decals; 50's stock car style. Maybe, I should just buy the model kits and go with MJK chassis (or maybe 1700 Plafit). I see the new 1:24 Scaleauto SC7018 JAGUAR XKR GT2 RSR PETIT LE MANS 2010 is out. Maybe I should just spend my $150.00 on one of those.
  8. Before I go ahead and buy one, has anyone else built/raced any of these? And if so, what are they like? Thanks!. Pat.
  9. Apologies if everyone has seen this (these videos) before, but I hadn't. It gives me a new appreciation for Batman. http://www.electricd...ars-and-batman/ Is this an early version of product placement in a TV series??? They're both Revell sets aren't they?
  10. Thanks Alan. It never ceases to amaze me how slot car tracks just seem to "turn up" around the place.
  11. Can anyone share any light on this track (in Brighton VIC)??? Slot Car Track: 5.15M x 2.1M http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Slot-Car-Track-5-15M-x-2-1M-/150712553795?pt=AU_Toys_Hobbies_Slot_Cars&hash=item23172b1143
  12. All the effort is appreciated Jacob. Thank you!

    New 4 Lane Routed Track

Let me know how you go with your timing system decision (and setup). I still haven't got any timing system on my track either. My track build.
