  2. Great to hear from you Neil. I will be running at both Luddenham and Campbelltown. The Campbelltown track is a bit bumpy, but I think that it is just another challenge. It is a great track and some of our better driver's have put in some very fast times (Onya Troy). Maybe we could run a rallycross round at Campbelltown. yes I've been once, I did enjoy the challenge, just didn't enjoy the walk every time I offed just after turn 1, before/under the bridge . as for fast times, I don't think they'll count for didly, I think it'll be a case of very cautous drivin & using periferal vision, especially if i do get a car built in time and I'm in your race. since starting back at Ludenham I,ve been getting alot of practice,,,,,,,,calling "hold blue",, "hold white",,"hold green" & so on, but Camplrtown has aother 2 lanes I need to practice calling.

    Howdy Race Fans.

Well it was a mistake,,that happened like this,,,,, years ago I remember talk of a certain plastic track [Carrera] being able to handle the flexis & womps. years later after being out of the slotcar circle and getting the itch, I was planning on geting a track, so I was searching for carrera only [ through Ebay], due to my impatience I overlooked a litle detail in the description, though th pic. of the F1 looked fair, not to be HO. So I placd my bid $200. on two boxes of Carrea Go[ still unaware of size], and I won the Item at it's starting bid $80. with postage. I couldn't beleive my luck, thinking the slot car Ind. must still be quiet. So the goods arrive, and I'm like a big kid on Xmas day,I pull the track out and play on the floor. Cleaning , adjusting, cleaning & then I go get my box of old slot cars/flexis/womps & realize, "Gee, this tracks a litle narrow". But I remember whilst search the auctions, that there was peices to widen the corners and straights, thinking that this is probably how to go. I sought of stalled there now building the table to lay my track on [and thats another epic story]. Some time arond this stage I bumped into Ric.[former owner of Hoxton Pk./Liverpool] who tells me that they now run up at Ludenham.Though still in cycling, with states ariving,I never got to get up there. So back to the set I wasn't quite happy with the layout only having 90deg. cornners, So I started looking around locally, with no luck, & now realizing the mistake I had made, I was devastated. All the beeeuuuutiful cars[with lights] I can't run on my track. But with the price of 1/32 track, I was definately not going to restart at this point, and fortunately I was able to aquire the parts and cars needed from the internet. so to answer the orig. Q. 1) I am happy with the area/size the track takes up. 2)Carrera and Scx do make good detail cars, both being diferent in the set ups. 3)the orig. plan for sticking to this scale was to model a track with sceenery. 4) as for racing, I'm up at Ludenham now reworking the triger finger and catching up with what I've missed as for the adventures of yhe build I'm gonna start detailing on another thread. hope this answers your Q. cheers Neil
  6. Hello to everyone out there at home,I'm Mike Raymond!!! I mean Neil. Where do I start in my lifes journey that has led me here [sitting on my backside on the lounge with the laptop on my lap]. well here it goes, Brew some coffee and grab a pin to jab yourself with ocassionally. Grew up in Livo with old lady looking after us, I recon I must of had the best child hood ever growing up with the speedway every Sat., having 1 or 2 cars on trailers in our backyard through the week, Ch.7 always setting new worldwide standards in televised racing[live incar cam]. Was never interested in fooze ball, every thing was racing. I was introduced to slot cars by a temperary dad, I would have spent almost every scent back in the day travelling to Fairfeild, Parramatta & Seven hills. Can't say I've been to every track around, but living out west at the end of the 90's was good with the Slot car sceene with Liverpool/Hoxton Pk, Ingleburn, Lumeah & Narellan. All that seem to die rapidly so I decided to get into cycling, always enjoyed riding the pushy, never for fitness but I was craving the rush that only a race can deliver. so I tried road racing only to be introduced to track/vellodome. OHH YEAH, that was the shizzle, a simple curcuit comprising 2x 180deg. turns & 2x straights, and then visit the country opens for some very, very interesting tracks some that are banked high and hard & only 180mtr long, 20 mtrs short of a stnd 200mtr sprint finnish, others that are longer with litle or no camber and one with negative camber with straights on the slightest hill. Picture this,,,,, coming down the back straight at around 49-52kmhr, entering turn 3 across rough/country bitumen[now leaning hard], glimpsing down to the ground and noticing that sand has been washed from the infeild across the corner, & remember there's 16 other riders around you. Thats the rush I enjoy and suprisingly I get the same rush when pushing laps on the track with my clubies at Ludenham. Not to long ago they had a sprint night and I recon my heart rate would have been at aerobic for a simple 3 lap sprint. Now I'm finding my way around the club racing sceene again and asking Q's relating to my home 1/43 track & cars I want to build, also reading post relating to proxie racing & others home tracks. Only prob. is though,I get nothing done cause I'm aways reading these post.
  7. Hello again , was wondering if there was anyone else out there who also owns or models with the 1/43 scale, I myself accidently got into this scale by mistake. Though I'm not dissapointed by there size, and the drive ability of these are entertaining when the magnets are moved about or removed. What I don't enjoy is the part where I look abroard for info or xtra gear and to see their market is flooded with heaps of goodies even digital, but I guess that could be said for any scale or hobby/sport. Would like to see what other Australianterians are up to, or tricks, or mods if there are any, or am I all alone. I,m gonna get pic.s of my track up soon as.
  8. Cool,, gives me time to build a chassis for Ludenham,, and extra time to build a chassis for Campelltown, with suspension{long travell], ASM, TC and an air bag in my controller

I'm glad I did ask first, I have a good history of starting and not fully compleeting due to lack of knoledge and the hicups that follow. I'm definately not going to start this till after winter and there is still a hole lot more info I'd like to acuire. I guess the winter period will give me the time to look and ask.

    Tracks Out In The Cold

Firstly, I'd like to say ,,"How'dy race fans". Would like to know if any one is having trouble with copper tape or copper braid or steel braid with the track out in the cold. Like to know others experiances as to make the right decision for my own venture. I'll explain where I'm at , so far,,, firstly I purchased 1/43 carrera go unknowingly thinking it was the same as 1/32, seeing it wasn't AFX. I built the table to swivel vertical for when not in use. As for the track being secured to the table,I used liquid Nails,[dosent work]. secondly I went and drilled/countersink and screwed each track peice down. [it worked]. Pulled all peices down flat and firm, even with the non magnet cars I can not see the screw heads upseting the cars. perfect. But that was mid autumn,,, now after this cold snap I'm finding my track changing constantly,,gaps getting bigger, now rails starting to lift. Table is kept out in carport, undercover but still in contact with wind and afternoon sunlight. I've noticed others in this forum have simular setups in storage of tracks. I'm now thinking of going for a routed set up, though I'd like to know if using copper tape is going to give me problems with expansion/shrinkage or peeling wih the elements or any other probs I'm likely to come across with this storage.
  15. Infact Ingleburn is still there till the 30th of this month incase you wanted to drop in before the doors close, Track is a ripper there as it caters for both 1/24 flexi style cars to 1/32 scaley stuff. Btw... Is there cars and controllers available to hire at JAM? Just had a thought if there wasn't you might be able to pick WSMCR's up before Plucka closes the doors. Always good to have some hire stuff available for newbies who walk through the door Story of my life . As i walk in everyone walks out
