  1. happy birthday Ron,,,,, avoid the cows & have a good one
  2. ha ha typical... as soon as you say there is perspex barriers,,, they are suddenly visible..... & I do hope all the drivers have a "house class" race first to get the ego comp. out of the way & settled ....... I got those little chrome mirrors on the Mclaren..... well I'm hoping they're still there ...... best part of the car I imagine.
  3. Damn..... how did this thread elude me..... was wait'n on some news & found this buried in among the "view new topics"....... looks a cracker of a track there....... like the looks of the sweeper into the hard left then the "S's" to the bridge...... must have some arse tightening battles through those corners......... I'm thinking the sweeper would've been better as the bridge....... also like the looks of the 2 decent straights seperated by a tight hairpin corner.... as much as I love drivin curves at a lesurely pace,, I love seeing / & hearing my cars at full song aswell........ & how do you go with no barriers between the hairpin turn & the other corners??.... I guess you regular racers would be quite used to the corners by now...... give me a night there. .. & you'd be installing bariers the next morning ..... at sun up.. looking forward to the Qual. round, & then the racing..... Cheers & good luck to all the drivers.... have fun, talk s#!t & race hard ....... Oh.......how's my babies??
  4. What can I say... history is repeating itself with my 2 entries ... Porsche dominating the McLaren... surprised & stoked to see 1 of my runners in the top ten... for 1 round at least... Thanks for running this round .... looks a great track.... wish I was there.

    Jack Brabham - Rip

is sad news... must admit the man lived the life in the era we could only dream off..... Imagine building a championship winning car in worlds pinnacle of motor sport,,,all from your own garage.... Never ever met the man,,, but heard him tell his tales over the PA systems at E/C... even then he still sounded passionate & happy to share..
  7. the only hot up method I know... (Shown by Slotrunner).. was to squirt a bit of WD into them,, run them,, & let them drain properly before you put em on the track.... this will last through the race meet.... but definitely back to norm by the next week....... He also showed how he stack magnets on the outer of the motor.... I tried this but noticed nothing,, could've effected braking or torque......
  8. Sorrry.. Runnin late ... Can you please inbox payment details .... Cheers
  9. I recon you've nailed it..... seeing the real things are going to share the same wheel base & track
  10. bloody having a bugger of a time 2 2nd attempt scratch building a chassis for the Carrera Porsche body....so I 've gone & bought a Sideways unit just in case........ Still going to give this thing a go..... will pay entry tonight.
  11. I would of thought you were going the routed route....... plastic is just as fun if not more challenging.... will this be the final set up
  12. top end speed ???..... don't think my cars have that either......... just looking @ your track I'm thinking the corners are tight & slow.. & a drag race out of every corner..... & latex surface again, is going to punish some cars... hopefully the 11.5v will save some..
  13. hmmm... lots of torque... real good brakes.... I fold..
  14. if any midweek racing is happening.. (Liverpool)... i'd be interested.

    Race 5 Thunder Road

Ditto... to the guys running the round... interesting track.. surprised all & took no hostages with some entrants ..... even I'm bewildered by the upset between my 2 entries..... was it because one performed better,,, or the other performed worse.... than their average expectations... I wonder if others like me.. cant wait to get their car back,, to work on them more & do it again
  16. cheers Charles .. Definitely nothing there to look at..... But it tells me paying attn. to "all" the little details combined is the key,, like gluing /truing tyres & whatever else that makes a car more predictable ....or simply sticking to this KISS.. Wish I had the orig. chassis to work with ,, I used to ...... Unfortunately. (in the past) I've had a bad habit of trying to better the stock chassis,, only to bin them..... This is the very reason that the current McLaren & Porsche are cut & shut sideways chassis,,.... So now, with the Group 5 project my only option is to scratch build a chassis out of card.... & yet I'm still wasting time over thinking about a 2 piece chassis .. inline or sidewinder & what parts to use out of the parts box....... sigh.
  17. thought I'd post here Seeing the Race 5 is close to commence........ was wondering If we'd be seeing pics of other entrants build or chassis....... back to the podded/ non podded topic be good to see which combinations are performing....

    Race 5 Thunder Road

With the coming G5 I'm needing To build or purchase my chassis.......to me the thought of the scratch build process is daunting.... & its the motor cradle that I'm sought of fearing.... this is where a purchased pod makes it all that easier..... just like the cars I've entered in this Championship..... was easy to cut & shut( sought of)..........still I've not yet made a move on the G5 chasiss & am still thinking .....lots of thinking... not doing ....just thinking.

Controllers??? ... Just a quiky of a topic before getting to race results... I would of thought... (in the perfect world) that the same style controller would be used at all tracks & lanes..... if not, then the same controller settings/unchanged would be used for all cars.... or put simply, maybe a 25ohm Parma on all lanes... I figure this is not happening (I'm not fussed).... but adjusting controllers to every single car... doesn't this contradict the builders tuning ability /luck... eg. I have a cupboard full of cars all diferent.. I can tune my controller/cars to my comfort zone .. yet .. same cars can be faster or undrivable with my Parma with settings @ norm.... isn't this what we are after... the builders ability.

    Race 5 Thunder Road

ditto.... results ain't got nothing to do with drivers ability..... if driver is consistent, the cream will rise... like I thought at first glance.... this track is going to need a well balanced car, weight & power...... with all those curves, this aint a point & shoot track.... nope, driver's gonna need good fingering. lol.

    Race 5 Thunder Road

My noisy car issue had me thinking about the track paint used.... was this track covered in 2 pac. or ....normal oil based ... or ... water based. .... which would could make the tyre sounds different due to surface hardness..... also change grip factor
  22. you going to run it both directions
  23. looks a fast challenge....Can you explain the pic.. straight under/after the bridge..is there a kink or divide in the lanes... or blur in pic

Your 917 had one rear wheel totally unglued on the outer rim. I repaired it and the car is better but still runs very 'hard' on the track. Did you varnish your fronts? They are running really hard / bouncy /may be out of round. Your 917 had one rear wheel totally unglued on the outer rim. I repaired it and the car is better but still runs very 'hard' on the track. Did you varnish your fronts? They are running really hard / bouncy /may be out of round. Front tyres are zero grips..... always been good in past.... "Fingering".... having a good'ole play of words.... was meaning throttle technique... So will this rectumfy bouncy wheel problem or is it getting worste..... lol
