As he's the track owner and has the 1st place car i thought who better to review each car. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22C2f6m-9hE Race videos to come. Cheers Paul
  2. Andrew loves your car, says it would clean up in a Slot.it only proxy.
  3. I'll track you down next week. We're running a round of the Touring Car proxy on Andrew's track in Richardson this Wednesday night. CARRACE will be having an enduro at Way2fast on Friday night for Modern Nascar and Aussie V8's and I've got to go to Melbourne for the weekend. Cheers Paul and I've still got to post Charles's car back to him.
  4. You run one blue track and you're tainted for life. Plus all the smurfs in the background.
  5. We can run a car with MJK's on a lane and it will get good grip. Run one with silicone tyres for 3 min on that lane then run the MJK car again and the lap times will be much slower. I know there's no scientific reason but real world testing on several of our tracks show otherwise. The silicone tyres seem to lift the rubber off the track and it sticks to the silicone. The more you clean the rubber residue off the silicone tyres the more they keep cleaning the track until there's no more rubber to lift.
  6. Racing will be on Wednesday night. We were supposed to be racing yesterday (Sunday) but a couple of the guys weren't feeling well. Andrew ran each car for a couple of laps to get a feel and see if any had any issues. All the cars ran well and Andrew commented that they were all better than last year's cars. He did say give him 30 min and he could get some of the middle runners on the the winners podium.
  7. Your car keeps trying to wheelstand out of the corners. The 2 screws you had holding the back of the pod to the chassis kept falling out so I had to replace them with slightly bigger screws (dia not length). They still allow pod movement and I set the pod as loose as it was with the original screws.
  8. Great looking track. Any chance I could come over and try to beat your lap records? Cheers Paul
  9. Your NZ tracks are weird - bright colours and silicone resistant. We've had so many issues with silicone tyres running with rubber/urethane that we banned silicone on all 14 Canberra tracks including the commercial track - Way2fast. Last year Way2fast ran a 2 part enduro on their 8 lane track. The 1st 4 hours were with Scalex rental cars (with magnets), 2nd 4 hours with non magnet cars running rubber/urethane. The cars running in the 2nd half had to race on a slippery surface because the Scalex cars took the grip away. Because of this the shop owner replaced all the tyres on his Scalextric rental cars with MJK's. Paul
  10. Blame covid. The track was supposed to be repainted a month ago with a much better surface but all the hardware stores shut down.

  12. Just waiting for Andrew to let us know what day this week suits him.
  13. Race report and videos to come but here's the finishing order. Peter Gunn's car is out of position, forgot to add a lap when his car crossed the start/finish line in the wrong slot. There was some very close racing on a slippery track. The cars that handled smoooothly were much easier to drive and did well. 14. Alan, while I had your car apart I noticed you hadn't cut back the insulation on the wires where they go into the guide. This can be a fracture point when you use grub screws to hold the wires in so I trimmed back the insulation about 3mm. While I was doing it the end of one of the wires broke off at the fracture point so your car wouldn't have finished a race if I hadn't fixed it. I also replaced the red tape you had wrapped around the wires as it was starting to fall off - see previous picture. The stuff I use is the wrapping used on a loaf of bread - plastic with metal wire imbedded. I also made sure the wires can't short out on the screw used to hold the guide on.
  15. Alan Guess what? Have a look at the video. Magnet test No need to penalise you now. When I rotated the motor I used screws to hold it in, much better than glue and very strong. Cheers Paul
  16. Jimmy, it's the races that I didn't video that had some of the worst crashes. Some took a lot of time to get to and put the cars back on the track. Charles, we don't have a pause button and if we held up all the cars in the race it would disadvantage them against any races which weren't "paused".
  17. All the short wheelbase cars were a bit of a handful on Alistair's track except jimmyslots. His cars weigh twice as much as everyone else's so it's bound to be drivable.
  18. Planning to run the first round this Sunday at Alvaro's. Cheers Paul
  19. Time for some videos. 20. I wonder if the Scaleauto motor has a magnet side and a non-magnet side like some longcans have. I'll check and if it does are you ok for me to rotate the motor so it doesn't have as much magnetic downforce?
  21. Storm in a teacup. All the high magnetic motored car owners have been contacted and all were unaware that their motors would infringe the rules. They have taken different options to resolve the issue and I'm happy to continue with this proxy knowing all the cars will be on a level playing field. Videos of Sunday's racing to come but some are really embarrassing for us drivers. Oh the shame.
  22. Hi all The first race was a mess. Each car was raced for a total of 6 minutes over 3 lanes and we were so out of practice there were a lot of deslots. With only 1 marshall a lot of cars missed out on getting good results. It was so bad that the car that lapped 3rd fastest finished the race in 22 place. Because of this I've decided this round won't be an official race but the lap times will sort the race order for the real first round next week. Here are the lap times and magnetic downforce as measured by a magnet marshall. All car owners with cars over 30g have been contacted to see how they want to proceed. Name Magnetic downforce Lap Time Peter Gunn 75 6.175 Dixie 52 6.256 JohnnieE 32 6.328 Alvaro 5 6.355 32coupe 11 6.371 lancelot 23 6.391 jimmyslots 1950 2 6.469 Supercharged 5 6.560 Sports Racer 9 6.582 DP201 6 6.629 Brooksy 21 6.642 bov 9 6.679 Nev 8 6.688 sticks 5 6.707 old man 28 6.719 ArroldN 5 6.792 Aloha 29 6.826 BrumosRSR 7 6.848 Nonfractal 54 6.902 Shaynus 23 6.960 BARacer 13 7.001 Pepsi62 3 7.008 curef99 22 7.236 ALS 14 7.372 charlesx 51 7.382 When you see the videos you'll understand why I cancelled this round - it's pretty humiliating and shows how bad you get when you haven't driven a slot car for 2 months. Here's the finishing order based on number of laps completed. Regards Paul
  23. I saw a video of the 1/24 wing cars doing sub 2 second laps and the caption was "fastest motorsport in the world". When you think about it it's true, so from now on I'm not telling everyone I race slot cars, I going to tell them I race the fastest motorsport in the world.
  24. We have a race! Tomorrow (Sunday) on Alistair's track. Pics and race results will be posted tomorrow night with videos added later in the week. I'll also let you know which cars failed the Magnet Marshal test and automatically get a 5 point penalty. The penalty will be applied for each track we race on with magnabraid, which is most of the tracks in the proxy. Cheers Paul
