  1. Paul, I noticed on another thread you have a plafit 1700 chassis with the axle holders turned around to face the rear of the car. I have 2 questions for you. 1.How did you find the handling? 2.Was it an experimental build or a neccesity to fit the chassis under your chosen body? Thanks Jason
  2. Category 3 = if you just enjoy racing a car. If the rules allow a car, set up and gearing to happen then do it. The rules are there for a reason. Cheers Jason
  3. I'm with Jim on the Ferrari, some of the choices for release have left a lot to be desired. I have to say one of the impressive things i have noticed with the mini z being displayed here, is the wheel inserts really set the cars off. what is the secret to getting the inserts looking so good? Are people using the wheels that come with mini z or is there some where to buy them? Having looked at the plafit rules, all cars need the 3D inserts, and as of yet my best efforts to accomplish a good insert have sucked royally! Cheers Jason
  4. I think Chris might be keen to build another mini z destroyer, that is all Werner. Have found these cars to be very enjoyable to drive, and just for the fact they look amazing on the track. Our club racing at xtreme trax has been very close, with a wealth of knowledge being shared around by the likes of Jim Patterson, Cameron and Chris. Even the resident build "expert" JJ has been helpful on more than one occasion! I am only really scratching at the surface on the plafit chassis build, gearing, tyre width, mounting, but a bit like Paul mentioned it is very satisfying to put a chassis together and have it run at the pointy end of the field. It does appear there are some very significant methods in the build which i must admit i have never done. One question i have, how much does wheel diameter play into speed of the car? Thanks for all the tips guys, off to pull my chassis apart me thinks. Jason
  5. Out of curiosity, whats a wener built mini z cost these days?
  6. Great thread Chris, mini z is such an enjoyable class even i can put together a semi competetive car. Werner i noticed your builds all have flanged lock nuts and a lowered stabilizer kit. Can i ask what is the reasoning behind this? Cheers Jason
  7. First race back for 2012 on Australia Day, seems almost wrong to run american muscle and nascar!
  8. Hey Jimmy, Any ideas on when the new series will be under way? Looks like i have a lot of catching up to do after a month off. Cheers Jason
  9. My entry for the xtreme trax thursday night MJK NASCAR series is finally completed. Just in time for the final round of the series tonight. Reasonably happy with how this worked out, only disappointment is the red decalling on the front. Have no idea how i could have managed it better, but one decal piece being applied to about 4/5 different contours just ends in bubbles. Happy with the blue base, seems to work really well. Finished product Time to go racing. Cheers Jason
  10. Well finally able to run my nascar entry, on the last round of the series. Time consuming build, here is hoping the Dupont Chev runs respectably. Cheers Jason
  11. Well after racing 1:32 for about two years now, finally came over to the big boys at local race nights (xtreme trax). First atempt at an american muscle, which was not easy cos i just couldn't choose a car. After much deliberation the Gt350 was what i decided on, with a kit ordered and a plafit 1300 chassis ordered from ace hobbies. Having decided straight black with white racing stripes would be the livery, began building and painting. A few minor hiccups along the way such as a glue drop on window, chassis being too wide for rear end,and numerous attempts at getting the racing stripes to be straight and paralel. Well it took a while but here it is. All in all very happy with how this first project came out, and with some minor adjustments hope to have this pony running competetivly very soon. Cheers Jason
  12. Jimmy being very kind with that comment. Camber and Jimmy have two absolute rockets, my GT350 is adequate for my first endeavour into 1:24 builds. A great series to run, plenty of laughs, and a tonne of help being offered to us new comers. Cheers Jason
  13. Hey Jim, just wanted to ask for the american muscle series, any specific era for the car or would say a 2009 corvette be fine? Awesome fun last night, really enjoying the racing and looking forward to running a legit car. Cheers Jason
  14. Hey Jim, any idea on how long the series will run for. I'm looking at building nascar and possibly a mustang, a bit late i know, but may hold off if the series will change soon. Cheers Jerimiah83
  15. Great night racing the 1:24. looking forward very much to delving into the finer points of this racing. The house nascars are great to learn with jim, would be great to have available parts to buy and build our own though. Cheers Jerimiah83
